Great Apartment

2116 Chestnut is a great place to live.

Management is pretty good, but not excellent (previous management team was better).

Good location.

Expensive.

Great place for Wharton students, but pricey

We have loved living in 2116, but will likely be moving next year because of the cost. The building is beautiful, the staff is nice, and the location is great. The only downside is that it is very pricey compared to other places around Rittenhouse. The appliances and finishes are also a little cheap for what you're paying to live there. If you're a Wharton student looking to be closer to campus and living with many other students, this place would be a great fit for you if you're okay with the price.

Best apartment in centre city

Rent can be a little high but the facilities are amazing. Convenient. Lots of parties are held here. View is great. Love the floor to ceiling windows. The recent change in management affected the service quality a little but it's all about a not really smooth transition. Rules of the party room have changed so there are less social events here than there should be.

Great building, but you're going to pay for it

I absolutely love living at 2116, but it's almost comically expensive. Definitely the most expensive of any of the major Center City 'Wharton dorms', but you get what you pay for. Great views, decent amenities, and TONS of students so you always have someone to share Ubers or meet up for dinner.

Amazing Views

I've really enjoyed living in 2116 Chestnut - the floor to ceiling windows that comprise an entire wall of my apartment create the feeling of floating above the city. I never get tired of watching the sun set past the Schullykill River, the traffic stream by on the expressway, the freight and Amtrak trains passing by, etc. - very relaxing when you need to unwind after a busy week of recruiting or finals. It's a very spacious studio, with a full kitchen area and plenty of closet space. The gym is really stunning - great equipment, huge windows, and its on the 5th floor so it's sunny and has a view. Pets are allowed, and there's parking but the monthly rate for the garage is steep.

Great building

I love the building and the apartment - spacious, lots of closet space, relatively new. Huge windows make it seem much more open. It isn't cheap, but I think you get what you pay for. Security is good and very nice. Management is okay

Best Decision

Love Love Love this building. Huge Wharton community and nice apartments with floor to ceiling windows and everything is newly renovated. Only downside is the carpet.

Great amenities including: conference rooms, movie theater, roof deck, and common areas.

Your standard large building

2116 Chestnut is your stereotypical large building. The management is ok sometimes and really dumb other times. Parking is really expensive. Pricing isn't great, but if you're too lazy to find a good deal and want a decent place to live, it's not a horrible choice.

Fitler Square Reviews

Fitler Square is really cute and homey. It's around a lot of other medical students, so it's a good social area and has an easy commute to school. It's also great if you like running because it's right off the trail on the river. Food is good but a bit homogenous (compared to West Philly especially.
Locust and spruce feel a lot safer than market or chestnut at night. Very residential streets with beautiful brownstones. Also close to dog park and the river walkway. About 10min walk from the popular buildings and 25min walk to huntsman
good place for people new to the city! close to both Penn and a lot of stuff downtown. I never lived in Philly beforehand, and definitely recommend this location
Love the neighborhood! If you're interested in being close to the center of the city and being able to actively explore Philly (for a not extreme price) it was great! Also was easy to get to my school - University of Pennsylvania. 15-20 mins to get to school by transit; 30 mins walking.

That being said I did notice that most students lived on the side of the school!
The beautiful tree-filled neighborhood is full of families, dogs, and students - it is safe, full of great restaurants, and boasts an equally quick walk to both University City and downtown attractions. The immediate access to the Schuylkill River Trail also can't be beat. While we lack apartment amenities, we love living in a historical brownstone that has charm and character. This is an area where you can live as a student and stay for another 20 years after that.
Great neighborhood, though expensive for Philly. If you're a Penn grad student who wants to be near campus but not on campus, it's ideal for distance from school and the Rittenhouse area. Lots of parks and residents are friendly.
There are residents without housing in the neighborhood. They're good people and new residents should be respectful of them and their belongings.
The neighborhood is very residential. Not a ton of bars/restaurants which can be annoying if you just want to pick up food after a busy day, but it's right near the park and Skukyhill river trail which is great for exercising and getting outdoors. Close to Trader Joe's and South Street market which is convenient
Center City is a fantastic area. I live on the northern side of it, which is the more financial/industrial/apartment building side. I live 2 blocks from a busy Trader Joe's and inches away from tons of great restaurants, corner stores, and shops. It's close to Rittenhouse Square, a swanky square block with a tiny park in the middle, as well as the Schuylkill River trail (great for running and biking) and the Art Museum area. Multiple major bus lines slice through this neighborhood, making it quite easy to get anywhere when you don't want to walk or bike.
