Great, convenient place to live

As someone without a car I needed a place within walking distance to grocery stores and the Duke shuttlebus that takes me to Fuqua. This place delivers in spades. It's also close to S9 and B9 where all the social activities take place but without the noise of having to live in either of those places. The only thing that detracts is that they force you to get cable which is included in your rent. However, the building is brand new and the management is responsive. Pricewise it's cheaper for me than a S9 1br because of the studio option, which is quite spacious.

Great management

What sets Solis apart is that the management is great here. Every request has been completed within 24 hours and the staff is very helpful. It's located right on 9th street, so it's perfect to be close to everyone else , but at the same time far enough to get your own space if you need it.
I am very glad I chose to stay here instead of any other building. My one bedroom is big enough to host people as well, which I love to do.
The pool and the gym are pretty good as well.

Solis 9th St. - Highly recommended.

Solis 9th St. is perfect for Fuqua students. It's in a convenient location - close enough to Berkshire 9th and Station 9 without being there. Easy parking and EXCELLENT management. I've gotten to know those people and it's actually a community.

Downsides - any apartment facing a courtyard will have a lot of noise echo. College students live in the building can be loud. Though the building is new, they didn't necessarily use the greatest of materials so your walls will peel off sometimes.

All that said, I think it's a great value and seriously, it's a tremendous location.

9th Street is a fun, social area for Duke MBA students. It's where a lot of them live, and all of us go out, so it's fun to be in such a social area where all friends are just a short walk away (sometimes not even outside the building!). There are great nice and fast-casual restaurants around too. It's not the cutest neighborhood, but I found it more valuable to be where my future classmates would be living.
I have never felt unsafe in my neighborhood, even running by myself at different times of the day. I feel like people are generally kind and friendly, and it is very close to school. It feels very clean and is generally pretty quiet besides the train.
It is an excellent neighborhood mostly because of proximity to everything - from your friends, to grocery stores, to your hair shop!
Convenient location to other students -- it's easiest to catch rides to and from campus from 9th street. There is not good public transportation in Durham, so convenient location to other students and campus is key if you don't have a car. If you don't have a car, I highly encourage you to choose an apartment on 9th street.
Ninth Street is a great location! You are close to a grocery store, really good restaurants, and within a 5 minute drive from campus. My safety has never felt threatened here.
It is extremely close to a grocery store. It doesn't get better than that.
Lots of students, walking distance to Harris Teeter and some shops.
The 9th Street area is definitely where you want to live as a Duke student if you can afford it! All the restaurants and stores are less than a block from the complex.
