Noise is my only issue

I love the community and the management. There is no doubt that the management is always ready to help you out and get service requests filled promptly.
My only issue is the noise. I live on the second floor and can hear everything, from my upstairs neighbor to people chatting near the fireplace right outside my window.
I moved here for the quiet, but that hasn't been the case in a while.
Outside of the noise, I really like my apartment. The appliances are very good and the gym is decent.

Great Location! Really Nice!

I've loved living at Solis! The apartments and amenities are really nice. The pool is great, and I love the gym. It is also in an excellent location. It is within walking distance to East Campus (and access to the bus) and 9th street, which has a number of great shops, restaurants, and a huge Harris Teeter. For people who don't have a car and want to be in on the action, Solis is a great place to live.

Great Leasing Office

The leasing office is very helpful and accommodating but it can get loud on weekends with people throwing parties and outside noise from the street. The location is great if you have a car. Everything you need including a grocery store, restaurants, and bars are located right downstairs.

Maura Schwitter Review

Great amenities - great gym, espresso machine, nice leasing office and study area, nice pool, etc. very friendly leasing office that is always willing to help and they try to make the living experience interactive with free food and events. I love living on Ninth Street with so many accessible restaurants and such. Apartment itself very nice. My apartment is right on Ninth Street on the second floor so it is very loud. I can hear peoples' conversations on the street. Also really bright, which I like all the time except for when I am trying to sleep, so curtains are necessary. Very pet friendly dog park and pet of the month stuff - I am the only one there without a dog basically. Also not many people in the program live there which is annoying.

Great option on 9th Street

Easy walk to the other 9th Street apartments but a little quieter living. Brand new!

Solis

Although overpriced, the appt is great. I moved into it brand new and met all my expectations. The staff is amazing and are very quick to respond to any requests. One of the leasing agents lent me his air mattress when I first moved in and my bed wasn't delivered yet.

As for amenities, it could be better for what we pay. Places like b9, lofts, and trinity have better amenities but Solis beats s9 by a mile.

The walls are a bit thin so i can hear when people are load in the hall. However, i think i lucked out and have quiet neighbors. It's almost never an issue.

A lot of good stuff

My wife and I live in Solis 9th. It's right near where most Fuqua students live (3 Minute walk), but the residents are a wide mix. So it's a great compromise for those who want to be close to where the action is but may not want to run into Fuqua students every day. Management staff is awesome. On the flip side, there are a few apartments with louder college students and the building materials may not be the best, but it's a good way to get a luxury feel apartment at a fair price.

So far so good!

My wife and I are delighted with our choice of apartment. The Ninth Street area is great: supermarket, restaurants, close to campus, etc. The building itself is brand new, with great amenities and a helpful and sociable management.

Old West Durham Reviews

9th Street is a fun, social area for Duke MBA students. It's where a lot of them live, and all of us go out, so it's fun to be in such a social area where all friends are just a short walk away (sometimes not even outside the building!). There are great nice and fast-casual restaurants around too. It's not the cutest neighborhood, but I found it more valuable to be where my future classmates would be living.
I have never felt unsafe in my neighborhood, even running by myself at different times of the day. I feel like people are generally kind and friendly, and it is very close to school. It feels very clean and is generally pretty quiet besides the train.
It is an excellent neighborhood mostly because of proximity to everything - from your friends, to grocery stores, to your hair shop!
Convenient location to other students -- it's easiest to catch rides to and from campus from 9th street. There is not good public transportation in Durham, so convenient location to other students and campus is key if you don't have a car. If you don't have a car, I highly encourage you to choose an apartment on 9th street.
Ninth Street is a great location! You are close to a grocery store, really good restaurants, and within a 5 minute drive from campus. My safety has never felt threatened here.
It is extremely close to a grocery store. It doesn't get better than that.
Lots of students, walking distance to Harris Teeter and some shops.
The 9th Street area is definitely where you want to live as a Duke student if you can afford it! All the restaurants and stores are less than a block from the complex.
