810 Ninth Street Review
Great place to live but very strict with the noise after 10 PM.

Great location, Some noise, Amazon Hub
1) 9th St area is great if you are planning to live alone (especially if you don't have a car - it is fairly easy to get a ride from this area thanks to the large Fuqua population in this area).
2) You might suffer from noise (parties, leaf blowers...).
3) Amazon Hub is the best.

Great Location, Great Community
If you are looking to stay on 9th Street, but want to put the frat party vibe behind you then look no further. While 810 9th offers the same location in the heart of Old West Durham, it has a more mature and community-friendly distinction. For the class of 2022 alone we have about 50 students living here. The amenities, appliances, and floorplans are all just a bit better than S9 or B9, and so you'll pay for that in price. Overall I am very happy with my living situation.

Apartment is great, other than train noise.

Great facilities but management can be a bit too much sometimes
Great choice for someone who wants to be on 9th street and around most of their class but not in the middle of the action

Terrible management office
The building office is super inflexible with some issues:
1. I had trouble registering my checking account to make the monthly rent payments. Because this error happened twice, I can't use the online portal again and so I need to talk to my bank to make direct payments to the building. They were neither flexible nor helpful. They are just following rules and harder to make the rent payments
2. There are some noicy leafblowers that start at 7am some days during the week
3. There is no cell reception in my apt
4. There are super inflexible with nice after 11pm

Reliable, friendly, clean, and well-maintained
Really responsive and helpful front desk. If you have an issue, they are responsive and willing to help. Submitting a service request is very easy through the resident portal and the maintenance team comes very quickly. Amenities are always functional and in good condition. Location is prime and close to both Harris Teeter and Whole Foods. Only complaint would be that the floors/walls are a bit thin. I don't hear anything from my adjacent neighbors, but if you have a neighbor above with heavy footsteps, you will probably hear them. Also, the hallways are enclosed unlike S9 and parts of B9. I didn't realize this was a thing at S9/B9, but having normal enclosed hallways is huge and feels safer than walking out of your unit and being in open air/looking right at the garage parking.

Good choice but depends on what you are looking for
I like the apartment because of: 1) location (9th st), 2) amenities (not that I use them so much) like gym, pool, barbecue station, bonfire, free coffee, 3) structure (it is not a big complex so you always find someone to talk to in the lobby), 4) a lot of the people who live here became my friends (a lot of internationals too)
BUT: 1) the leasing office is not as flexible or helpful with residents as in other complexes 2) old people live here so depending on where your apartment is, you could receive noise complaints even just because you are watching a movie and laughing about it 3) There is only one conference room for the entire building

Best 9th st area choice
I think some of the “what do you like” choices are a little leading. Yes I think the gym and pool are great—is it nicer than the gym/pool club to which I belonged in DC, no but it’s good for an apartment complex.
810 is definitely the best choice if you want to live on 9th st. They are very responsive in my experience and very fast on maintenance.
