The Brantley

Great location, right back the road so there's a lot of noise. Other than that, its a pretty nice place.

Quiet and convenient, somewhat overpriced

The Brantley is a historic apartment building in Cleveland Heights and walking distance from the University and Cedar-Fairmount area. Interiors are relatively well-maintained, although due to its age several problems have arisen with leaky faucets, outlet covers, etc. Overall, maintenance has been prompt and thorough. This is a great building if you prefer quiet, although depending on the activity levels of upstairs neighbors, you may get more noise through the ceiling. Lots of grad students, residents, and other interesting people though you probably won't see much of them unless you make an effort. The 1br1ba is extremely spacious, and if you get an apartment higher up at the back of the building you'll get a lot of nice sunlight in the afternoon and evening. Kitchens tend to be nicely renovated, and my particular apartment had been recently repainted. Heating is included (radiator) but is inconsistent (sometimes too little and sometimes too much relative to outside temperature). Electric bill and quarterly water/utility bills are separate. Parking, if needed, is expensive, and there are only a few covered spots. Cats seem to be allowed, but read over the lease carefully as I was under the impression early on that no pets were permitted in the building. The washers and dryers in the laundry room are average quality and relatively expensive ($1.75 per washer load, $1.50 per dryer load).

OVERALL, the quality is slightly above average for this area and taking into consideration the age of the building, but it is slightly over-priced. I have no complaints about communication with the property manager.

nice apt, little on the pricey side

Have lived here for 4 years throughout med school without any issues. I like that the area is incredibly safe and has a lot nearby. This building is a little 'nicer' than surrounding buildings and truthfully it is on the pricey side for Cleveland Heights, but I liked that it's nice inside. Incredibly quiet building.

Prime location with spacious interior, beautiful natural lighting, and contemporary design. Great experience for 4 years!

Living in the Brantley has been a great experience for 4 years through medical school. It is in a perfect location for any student, resident, or other professionals given its 5-15 min proximity to Case campus, hospitals, grocery store, and public transportation (safe also!). The building is updated and well-maintained, especially when compared to other apartments in the area that I saw when looking around. The units have a contemporary design and are spacious with large windows and beautiful natural lighting. It is also a quiet apartment complex with mostly other students or professionals. Maintenance and landlord are very responsive, and I've had a great relationship with them all 4 years. My only critique is that it is more expensive than other units in the area, but the higher cost is well worth what this building/units have to offer. I'd highly recommend to others!
