Pros:
- Rent is on the cheaper end
- Heating is included in rent
- Management is responsive and maintenance is usually fast
- Safe and nice neighborhood
- Close to CWRU shuttle stop

Cons:
- If you are on the left side of the building, there's very little sunlight
- Have to pay for city parking (technically no free street parking)
- The building is relatively old - no A/C in the summer, shared laundry

We had a really hard time working with Integrity (specifically TK, our leasing agent) about a move-in date and initially were promised the apartment and then a month later were told that we couldn't have the apartment. Once we scrambled to find other apartments, the agent called us saying the apartment actually WAS available to us...it was just a lot of headache. I love our actual apartment and have had no issues since moving in.

The building is old, but the studio was recently renovated (including kitchen and bathroom) so it looks nice. Huge storage closet. No maintenance needed yet. Realty company is easy to work with, responsive. No central a/c, but my window unit works well. Generous heat included in rent. Overall a great location (near 2 bus lines to campus) and a great deal if you prefer to live alone. Would recommend.

Excellent location. Very close to Case campus and the Cleveland Clinic (~5 mins driving), and right next door to Cedar Fairmount area with restaurants and bars. The unit is relatively large and has a wider, more open floorplan than many other buildings in the area. However, the building is old; the elevator is difficult to use and there is central heating which we have no control over. There is also no way to buzz in a guest, you have to let them in at the door. You also have to purchase your own parking permit for an uncovered lot, which is a 3-minute walk away.

I've lived in this studio since 1st year med school all the way up to 4th year. Small space (do not have space for a couch or TV), but it had everything that I needed. Some units have renovated bathroom and kitchen. Convenient to walk to school. Starbucks, grocery store (Dave's), and restaurants one block away. Outdoor city parking lot you have to pay $30 /month.

Huge 1 bedroom apt (1,300+ sq feet). New windows, bit outdated kitchen. Overall apt building is quiet, mostly with grad students/residents. Integrity leasing office is right next door if I have a problem. Less than 15 minute walk to school. Very close to CWRU shuttle service. No complaints, planning to stay here till I graduate.

Positive: convenient location (close to school, grocery store, restaurants, Starbucks), right next to the property management office (nice if you lock yourself out), pretty responsive with repairs

Negative: over-priced for the condition of the apartment/amenities, the laundry room is overpriced and pretty grotey (~$2.15 per washer or dryer), the building has mice (though our unit was sealed completely at our request)

Management very nice and responsive. Large space and the closet is huge! The apartment also has very nice beautiful looking cabinets. My apartment faces the alley so I don't get a lot of sun but I am sure that other sides of the building would get more sunlight than mine. I don't have a pet but other people in the building do.

Overall, I have had a decent experience at the Bertland building. My only issue occurred over the winter when the management company realized they told me the wrong rent and I was underpaying for 5 months. They made me pay the missing amount before they would accept any further rent payments from me and I felt their treatment of the situation was unfair. Otherwise, they are generally pretty responsive to requests and I have had a good experience. The apartment itself is clean and well maintained with much character. The only other thing I dislike is that it's very expensive, strictly due to location. I was paying the same amount before coming to school when I had a full time job. My previous apartment had a lot more amenities and free parking. It seems ridiculous that as a full time student with no job, I pay more for rent and parking now than before.

Bertland has a lot going for it and little to dislike. The 1920s building is well kept. The hardwood floors in our apartment were redone recently and there are some nice built in cabinets. Part of the Cedar-Fairmount neighborhood, there are plenty of resources close by, including a grocery store, several cafes and a variety of restaurants. Management at Integrity is consistently responsive. Perhaps the only downsides are a smaller than standard refrigerator and a slow water heater.
