Excellent apartment

I love living in 2400, although it is certainly not perfect. Things I like about it: the location is perfect, easy access to center city and U city as well as multiple forms of public transport; the management and staff are extremely friendly and ready to help; the newly renovated apartments are super nice with lots of outlets, closet space, and big open windows. Things I don't like about it: there is no way to check your balance with management/make sure you have paid everything you owe besides asking someone to check manually and despite paying my rent/electric/car payment in a timely manner, I have had more than one instance where 2400 told me I owned them hundreds of dollars from months previously for an extra payment I didn't realize I owed (e.g. a new deposit when moving apartments within the building); they are still in the process of renovating apartments plus the city is redoing the Chestnut bridge so there is a LOT of construction at ALL times on many fronts and therefor a lot of noise even through the middle of the night and on weekends.

Be careful with 2400 Chestnut

This was a terrific building during my first year of law school. However, the interior of the complex is undergoing a top-down gut renovation. On top of that, Chestnut St (including the bridge) is undergoing simultaneous major construction. In short, the noise pollution is constant and unrelenting. Tenants throughout the building agree. I have complained numerous times to management and they have done little to accommodate.

Great value for Wharton Students

Location is great for being in the Wharton bubble, and also close to school. Newly renovated apartments (renovated this year) provide a great value, although building common areas and amenities are old need upgrading (hallways, gym).

Get a unit that faces the river and you have amazing sunset views

Very, very good location for MBA students

Location, location, location!!! 2400 is just a short walk from Rittenhouse and probably the closest among all center city appartments to the Wharton School. Most units have recently been renovated so it's nice and comfy. I love it!

Good building

Overall a good building. Very helpful management.

Slightly over priced if you are not getting parking, reasonable parking I found at a building.

Also has a free shuttle to campus which can save $7-10 a day on cold or bad weather days

Be a heavy sleeper

Building units are undergoing renovation and there is a lot of construction on the bridge nearby, so there's nearly constant construction noise any time of day and night.

Building renovation is slower than expected so if you move into an unrenovated unit with a promise of moving, you can factor in 2-3 months worth of delays.

The building front staff are very friendly and the place is safe. It is conveniently located ~25min pleasant walk to Wharton/UPenn and ~10min walk to Rittenhouse Square. Lots of Wharton students in the building.

Basic amenities - gym, small business center. No pool or lounge area.

Convenient on all fronts, but rent too high.

It's a great place. I love the van that drives me to school every morning. Rent is way way too high, and I would move if I had time when my lease was up. It's really unfortunate they charge what they do. So many of my friends have significantly nicer places and pay a lot less. Their places are in some ways less convenient, but when I'd be saving $600-700 a month(!), it's no question I feel like I've made a bad call.

I've lived here for 5 years and have been mostly happy

2400 Chestnut St is conveniently located close to campus, 30th st station, and downtown festivities. It's also super easy to hop on the highway by car. The building also offers a free shuttle to campus on weekdays.

Most units are being renovated which has been pushing up the prices quite a bit. Had I been forced to move into a renovated unit, I would have moved out of the building (due to budgetary constraints). The new units are beaauttiiffullll, but for the new rent price, you can get better amenities in other buildings in the city (i.e. a nice gym, in unit laundry, etc.). Of note, the new building management is not as responsive as they used to be. For instance, I had flooding in my kitchen which was not addressed for multiple days. And the cable service has been disconnected in the building for a couple of months, though leasing agreements state that this amenity is included in the cost of rent.

Overall, however, I've had a good experience in the building. It's been a staple part of my Philly and medical school experience.

Great for law students

Been living here for 2 years while at Penn Law. Very solid building--close enough to the law school but also gives you space. Management is very responsive. Only complaints are sometimes there is street or apt construction which is very loud at inconvenient times (but not often)

Fitler Square is really cute and homey. It's around a lot of other medical students, so it's a good social area and has an easy commute to school. It's also great if you like running because it's right off the trail on the river. Food is good but a bit homogenous (compared to West Philly especially.
Locust and spruce feel a lot safer than market or chestnut at night. Very residential streets with beautiful brownstones. Also close to dog park and the river walkway. About 10min walk from the popular buildings and 25min walk to huntsman
good place for people new to the city! close to both Penn and a lot of stuff downtown. I never lived in Philly beforehand, and definitely recommend this location
Love the neighborhood! If you're interested in being close to the center of the city and being able to actively explore Philly (for a not extreme price) it was great! Also was easy to get to my school - University of Pennsylvania. 15-20 mins to get to school by transit; 30 mins walking.

That being said I did notice that most students lived on the side of the school!
The beautiful tree-filled neighborhood is full of families, dogs, and students - it is safe, full of great restaurants, and boasts an equally quick walk to both University City and downtown attractions. The immediate access to the Schuylkill River Trail also can't be beat. While we lack apartment amenities, we love living in a historical brownstone that has charm and character. This is an area where you can live as a student and stay for another 20 years after that.
Great neighborhood, though expensive for Philly. If you're a Penn grad student who wants to be near campus but not on campus, it's ideal for distance from school and the Rittenhouse area. Lots of parks and residents are friendly.
There are residents without housing in the neighborhood. They're good people and new residents should be respectful of them and their belongings.
The neighborhood is very residential. Not a ton of bars/restaurants which can be annoying if you just want to pick up food after a busy day, but it's right near the park and Skukyhill river trail which is great for exercising and getting outdoors. Close to Trader Joe's and South Street market which is convenient
Center City is a fantastic area. I live on the northern side of it, which is the more financial/industrial/apartment building side. I live 2 blocks from a busy Trader Joe's and inches away from tons of great restaurants, corner stores, and shops. It's close to Rittenhouse Square, a swanky square block with a tiny park in the middle, as well as the Schuylkill River trail (great for running and biking) and the Art Museum area. Multiple major bus lines slice through this neighborhood, making it quite easy to get anywhere when you don't want to walk or bike.
