Decent Apartment in a Quiet Area
Some issues with maintenance and main office but mostly a great place to live with decent amenities and a quiet neighborhood

Great property. Amazing staff.
The company I work for is on a job in New Orleans and we provide housing for some of our employees. At the beginning of the summer i was tasked with searching for properties to rent for our employees being sent to LA for this job. I am not from LA nor am I familiar with the area. I went into this request feeling very negative and worried about being able to pull this off. From the first contact I had with Leah at the leasing office she has made everything so easy. Leah has gone above and beyond for myself and my team. Leah has shown us so much grace. She's been beyond helpful and nothing slight of a literal angel. I truly can say The Saulet is lucky and blessed to have such an amazing dedicated employee. Great location. All of my team has enjoyed their stay at this property. They love the neighborhood and everything in close proximity.

Could be better, could be worse
Good location - close to Magazine. Apartments are old but still nice. They leave the gates to the parking structures open all the time, but even when they are closed, they are very easy to open without a gate key. Anytime there are theft or break-in issues, management sends an insincere cookie-cutter email. If they actually worked to fix the safety issues, it would be a great apartment. But if you are willing to spend more each month, you can find a much more updated and secure complex elsewhere.

Great to live here until something goes wrong
I lived at the Saulet for 2.5 years. First in a 3 bedroom/2bath then in a 2bedroom/2bath. It was all fine until Ida hit. We had significant damage that was not disclosed to us for MONTHS. There was a terrible moldy odor that they refused to come inspect and just kept reassuring us that they had already resolved. Then out of nowhere they sent us an email saying they would demolish our entire apartment and that it was OUR choice to move or stay living in an apartment with exposed construction and mold. I moved as my room had significant damage and had to argue with them to push back the date of the demolition. My roommate stayed as they told her that her room is not need to be demolished. Guess what? It got demolished. They didn't cover any of her stuff and it was all covered in mold and plaster. She wasn't able to leave for two weeks and had to live in mold and exposed construction with all of the valuables covered in dust and mold. She has gotten allergies and a sinus infection from this. On top of all of this, she had things stolen by the construction team and they refused to return our rent for that month to us until we threatened legal action.
While the rent and general apartments seem like a good deal the entire management team is grossly incompetent, there is MOLD everywhere in the walls, and they essentially never fix anything properly. Save yourself the headache of ever living here.

The Saulet Apartments Review

Saulet Apartments
The apartment is a short drive to and from downtown and has its own parking garage which is very convenient if you have a car. It is not within walking distance of downtown but you could ride a bike back and forth.
The buildings are mostly in good condition but Hurricane Ida did expose some structural issues. They are being worked on currently. The appliances are not new but are decent for a rental. It is pet friendly and pretty quiet. The neighborhood is nice and it is only a block away from Magazine Street.

Saulet Apartment Experience
My roommate and I have lived at the Saulet for over 3 years. We are both from out of state and were unfamiliar with the city. We picked it because we knew other medical students lived here and did not have a chance to tour beforehand. We have had a good time living here - no major issues. The apartment is simple with everything we need. It is pet-friendly - we have a cat. It only takes 5-10 minutes to get to the med school and is close to the freeway. You are only 3 blocks away from magazine street with restaurants and coffee shops. You can easily walk to Mardi Gras parades, but it also means that you can get stuck driving. The gym is quite impressive for an apartment complex. However, I will say I know many others who have lived here with bad experiences - roof leaking, water issues, noisy neighbors (thin walls/ceilings), and post-Hurricane Ida damage leading to moving apartments or eviction.

Not Great
Getting to school everyday during am rush hour is stressful and takes a while and going back after lab is the same way. The staff isn't responsive and there are a lot of inconveniences, only able to get packages from 9 to 5 when leasing office open, gym closes at 11, and no elevators.

Good place to live but a little pricey
Quiet, clean, quick maintenance turn around. I wanted an apartment with washer/dryer, microwave and gated parking. So the elevated price is for my comfort.

Saulet Apartment Review
Overall the complex is nice. It is convenient to have a parking garage, pool, and gym on the premises. The location is great, walking distance to Magazine St. and right next door to the I-10 over pass but it is about a 20 minute drive to campus. The tenants are messy and noisy at times. There's always a minor problem with something going on but maintenance is nice and accommodating. I've never felt unsafe here. I was in a rush to move to New Orleans and moved here for the space and that they allowed dogs. There's a lot of hidden fees. I would give it a higher rating if I didn't think that it was too expensive for the quality that you get.
