Rowan Review
I have been living at Rowan Apartments for two years now and have had a great experience. The location is ideal, just a 7-minute drive away, and the atmosphere is vibrant and inspiring, with a strong community of young, successful Black professionals, including medical, dental, and law students, as well as engineers.
What I appreciate most about the building is the abundance of study spaces—there are three dedicated study rooms and numerous desk areas, all accessible 24/7. Management is kind. I plan to continue living here throughout my time at Howard Med.

Great amenities/location, terrible maintenance
Location and amenities are nice. Maintenance is terrible, and common spaces are dirty. Some apartments have roaches.
Not the best place to live
A nice looking apartment with a lot of amenities, however not a great place for couples and not a great place to study. It’s very loud in the “study” areas and people walk in and out the building all the time without concierge stopping them. For the price I don’t think it’s worth it. But location to the school is perfect
Garbage
In Mach 2023 my dog who was registered to be living in Altana and was attacked by a dog in the building who was not registered to be in the building. I had prior encounters with the dog before the attack and every encounter was documented and emailed to Altana prior to the attack. When the incident happened I took all the right legal measures to ensure that I was correctly advocating for my dog. Altana re-assured me that the dog was unregistered and that their lawyers were taking action. Come to find out later the tenant tried to get the same dog that she violated the lease with back on the property. I confronted Altana on their negligence but they still reassure me that matter was taken care of. Since then I have seen the dog multiple times and have emailed about it. And they reassured me of contacting the legal team. Over a year after the incident after multiple emails and requesting information about the legal team actions I finally got a letter. Pleas see all the email attachments and correspondents.... if you truly lover your dog.....DOCUMENT EVERYTHING because Altana is not on your side.......
Far from school
The apartment is next to a cute marketplace and a taco truck, but it is far from school. I live in a loft with beautiful windows, space, and updated appliances.
City Park in the Heights
units are nice and updated and the location is amazing- close to heights bars and to I-10. However, parking was an issue for several months after delayed reconstruction of parking covers after the summer storms. Staff is unhelpful with maintenance issues
Volare
It’s a great place to live in Southern Highlands!
It’s pretty good
Although it is kind of expensive, they provided my sister and I with a deal of 2 months free as well as a $500 gift card before we moved in. The area is a bit dangerous, but it super close to the metro which is perfect to transport to school. It is a 20 minute train ride, and is a reliable form of transportation. There is also a bus near here that is an option, but that is a little less reliable.
Parking + living
Parking is a nightmare and very expensive but the building has a lot of amenities and near a metro station.
Love this place
I think the apartment is great, close to everything and filled with young professionals.
Convenient Location
The amenities are nice, luxurious and clean. The shops on the first floor are a nice plus. I also like that the campus police headquarters are on the parking garage.
Gallery 64
I enjoy living in this apartment. There are lots of study spaces throughout the building that are always available including private rooms. There is also a podcast studio and an art studio. Additionally they offer a rental locker where you can rent items like Dyson vacuum or a power drill for $60 a year and its free for the first hour and $2 for every hour after.
