Close to campus is the best perk
Connecticut Heights is a pretty decent place to live, as long as you have very reasonable expectations.
The building is very pet friendly and in a residential area so it's not very loud. It's also SO convenient to get to campus by car (cannot speak to transit); it's usually less than a 10 minute drive. It feels like a decent deal given the amenities (parking, pool, concierge, etc).
I have had issues with lights going out, shower drainage, and dishwasher leaks. These have been handled just alright – nothing exceptional. While the location is a great commute to campus, the building is not near the center of the city and that has been a deterrent for my exploration of DC.

Great Apartment off Connecticut Ave
Living at this apartment has been great so far. The apartment is more spacious than expected, the walls are thick, we've had no pest problems (knock on wood), the staff is super friendly and helpful, maintenance comes within 24 hours, and we have access to good amenities. The commute to AU's campus is a little long but the area is nice. Parking in a garage is expensive ($175 per month) but there is limited street parking.

Great apartment, exactly what I need
This is the first apartment I've ever lived in and I do feel like I lucked out. It is quiet, the area is nice (very residential), I feel safe, and I am able to afford living here relatively comfortably even by myself (which is hard to do in a city, especially DC). The apartment managers are great and responsive, and everything is to my liking. I don't mind paying for my electric because that means I can keep it really low every month. Only annoyance is paying for parking but it is fully my choice to have a car since I spend a lot of time outside of the city. Also my location doesn't get a ton of light (and I have a lot of plants) but the plus side to that is it doesn't get too hot in the summer so I don't run my air much. Other downsides could be distance from transportation and lack of nightlife around, but those are not too bothersome for me since I come from a rural area and I am used to it! I have seen NO pests my whole time here.

Great for AU Students!
I moved into Connecticut Heights in August and have been happy the entire time since! Nathan in the leasing office was patient, helpful, and highly communicative. I had a moving van and two cars worth of items, and the leasing office/concierge offered help navigating the loading dock and parking!
I appreciate the option for parking as it is wonderful to not have to worry about street parking – the pricing also seems reasonable from what I've heard from other renters in DC.
The building staff is incredible – the concierge team is wonderful, and the maintenance staff is efficient.
The location is also great – I'm at 10/15 minute drive from AU's main campus and the Spring Valley Building.
I will say that I do hear lots of noise given where my unit is in relation to the parking garage entrance/exit but it doesn't bother me too much.

Highs and Lows
The staff is really helpful at Connecticut Heights. I also really enjoy being able to use the gym. There is a beautiful workspace for residents if I ever want to get work done outside of my apartment. The neighborhood feels safe enough (I walk my dog several times a day, though I still make sure to be aware of my surroundings).
When I first moved in, I had to handle a roach problem. It seemed building-wide. Although the staff was very good about being responsive and being empathetic to my needs, it took over a month (and 2-3 treatments) for the roach problem to improve.

Good location & nice staff, but older buildings need cleaning
My unit is in one of the 4 older buildings at CT Heights. My building and the other older ones do have on-and-off pest issues, and the older buildings' hallways/common areas need more frequent cleaning.
That said, the concierge, maintenance, and leasing-office staff have always been friendly and helpful. Overall, I've enjoyed living in this apartment. If you're looking for a quiet neighborhood near AU on the Red line, CT Heights is worth a look.

Excellent apartment service
A very good experience overall in living at Connecticut Heights. All service needs are tended to very quickly. Excellent, friendly concierge staff. Comfortable apartment with a great layout and large counterspace. Very satisfied overall.

Average
Management is incompetent and never responds to request. Location is great and I love my apartment but the building is old and not well maintained. It's close to transit, grocery stores, AU and utilities are included so that's a plus. But there's issues with the building.

Don’t live in Building 5
Building 5 has a major Roach issue that management has refused to do anything about. Also, their service requests are never their best effort. They would rather fix something temporarily then work on longterm solutions. We are currently transferring to building 4 and hope we will have a better experience.
