The Chesapeake Apartments
I have been pleasantly surprised by this building. The office staff are very friendly and maintenance always responds quickly. The location of the building is great and close to the Van Ness metro station. The neighborhood is also lovely to walk around and close to Rock Creek Park. My only complaints are the lack of control of heat during the winter, it tends to be too hot, especially at night. And I have had a pretty continuous mouse problem for the last few months.

Chesapeake Apartments - VanNess
The building and desk staff are lovely, and maintenance responds quickly. There is access to a gym, community room, and courtyard space. The management company has a very easy to use App for community and package notifications. I've had a mostly positive experience here and its close proximity to the metro, a Giant, a CVS, Tenleytown, and AU makes it a very convenient neighborhood to live in. The biggest downside is that the building is very old and does not have central heating and air. In the winter, they turn on the heat in every apartment and you can't control the temperature which becomes hard to deal with because they don't turn the heat off until mid-May. Even then, the only air conditioning is through window units which are hooked up to your electricity so it drives up your electricity bill in the summer. This past year our summer bill was approximately $60/a month and our winter bill was $20. . . Additionally, we just got some information that they are going to change the package delivery service, and beginning in 2022 the management is going to charge a monthly fee to accept your packages.

Nice Location - High Rent
The Chesapeake offers decent apartments, but you are paying more for the location than the space. The maintenance team is awesome, handles requests immediately, but don't expect any preferential treatment. Next door is the Saratoga, the tenants are treated like royalty.

Great management and a great place to live
I've been living in Chesapeake apartments for a year now and it has been a great journey. The management is great and responsive. Whenever I had a problem with anything, all I need to do is to call the office or login to website and the problem was solved at hand. I'd never move out if I work in DC.
Great places along with metro and bus accessibility around the apartment.
