A little of everything you would need

-Relatively convenient location: 20 minute walk / 5 min bike to Kellogg Global Hub, close to both trains, close to downtown.
-Quiet: rarely have noise issues.
-Always have felt safe.
-"Nice to have" amenities: gym, common room, pool - but nothing special.
-Over-priced for the quality of the apartment, amount of space and location.
-Management responsiveness is okay, not exceptional.

Great apartment complex

I love living at the Reserve. I live in a one bedroom/one bath. Though it's not renovated, it has a washer/dryer in unit, it's very spacious, it's clean, and it has a rounded corner with bay windows. It feels safe. It's maybe a bit farther from downtown/campus, but not by much. I walk everywhere. Would highly recommend!

Good Location and Modern Apartments

Great location, close to E-2 and a mile door to door to the Global Hub. The apartment is spacious and modern. Property Management company is responsive and helpful. The only downside to this place is that the place has thin walls.

High Quality Overall

Some issues with transition to new management company, but overall a very good value. Nice compromise between the brand new and "vintage" options nearby.

Fine apartment for one year

Based on the reviews, I came in with very high expectations, especially for the price I was paying. Overall, the property is fine, but it let me down a bit.

First, the positives: nice gym, heated parking garage, and spacious rooms. Cheap internet, no true TV package, but that was ok for us for the year

The negatives: walls are very thin. You can practically hear everything your neighbor does, and can hear emergency sirena every 30 minutes when they pass by if you are on the street.

Mail package system is a disaster. They implemented a new automated locker system, but there were not enough lockers for the entire complex, so USPS began simply leaving packages on the ground for any stranger without a key card to pick up. After numerous complaints, management didn’t do anything. Finally, after the police caught and arrested someone opening packages, they began taking a new approach. To this day, USPS still does not deliver our mail. Very annoying.

In previous reviews, management was cited as great. I would disagree. I think most are great and incredibly helpful, along with the handyman. However, there is one in particular that could be the rudest housing staff member I have ever encountered in my life. She is not only unhelpful, but almost accusatory for any problem we have had with our room.

All in all, you could do worse when choosing a property, but I think they are charging too much. Probably more in line with some of the other cheaper properties in better locations. For the price, I would go with E2. Much nicer amenities and sound proof rooms for a similar price.

Quiet and convenient

Overall it's a really nice place! The apartment is roomy, updated, and cheaper than the luxury high-rises. Even though you're not with 50+ other students in the same building, you're right down the street and have all the same access (minus an indoor pool and basketball court, but would you really use that anyways?).

Good Staff and Management

The Reserve tries their best. The units are clean and relatively modern on the inside. It's a bit of a mix of residents - some MBA students, a good amount of undergrads, working couples, and families. Management is usually pretty responsive though not all the time. In general, I feel like it's ~10% pricier than it should be (prices aren't far off from E2, for example, in the handful of comparisons I've made) and it's about a 5 minute longer walk from the Global Hub than I'd like, but those are relatively minor complaints.

Good but far away from everything

Good apartment with larger rooms and living areas than E2 or some other apartments. The only downside is that it is 15 mins walk away from both campus and downtown Evanston. It would have been nice to be closer to either one of these.

There have also been some issues with package deliveries. The area where the parcels are stored is not locked and can be accessed by non-residents, resulting in some theft of packages. Additionally, the parcel lockers often run out of space, resulting in your parcels being left in the corridors of your apartment block.

There are quite a few Kellogg students who live here, which is great if you are a Kellogg student.

Overall a good apartment that I would recommend. However, I would personally choose somewhere closer to downtown Evanston (e.g. Park Evanston).

Good space, thin walls

Overall, very positive experience living at the Reserve. The only downside is the walls are paper-thin and I can hear when my neighbors next door are having a normal volume conversation (especially late at night). If someone in the unit above me is walking, it sounds like stomping.

The Reserve - Everything you basically need

This apartment is ideally located - a 15-minute straight-shot to the Global Hub. Pretty nice amenities, decent rent, and a good community of Kellogg students who share Lyfts to class when it gets really cold. I recommend the B building as we get great natural light. It's also right next to E2/Optima Horizons where many other classmates live. Building management occasionally doesn't have their act together but, what building management does?

Northeast Evanston Reviews

I think technically this is considered Northeast Evanston, but you'd never know it. It does feel a bit more suburban than downtown does, but you are just so close to downtown that it feels weird calling it something else. It has all the benefits of being in downtown while being a bit more peaceful.
Neighborhood is safe -- lots of other Kellogg students nearby. Occasional emails from Northwestern warning of criminal activity in the area, but I have not witnessed anything that makes me feel unsafe.

Neighborhood is also quiet as its a decent walk from the bars and other nightlife.
The neighborhood is perfect. For Kellogg students, it's close to the Jake, relatively close to the new building, and close to all the other Evanston apartments to never be a problem meeting up with people. It's right next to the Foster St L line and a couple blocks from the Metra.
Sherman and Noyes is a great little pocket of Evanston with lots of shops and restaurant options, a specialty grocer and easy access to the train. There are a lot of undergrads in the area but the noise hasn't been a problem at all. Great for couples, families and pets.
If you're looking for a neighborhood feel, living in NE Evanston is perfect. You're just a 10-minute walk from downtown Evanston, but it's a bit quieter -- and housing prices are way more reasonable than being in a high-rise.
Pretty much everyone in Kellogg lives near-ish to downtown Evanston and I'd say it's definitely helpful so that you can easily meet up with others or get to and from social events. Evanston is pretty cute too!
A little further from downtown, but doesn't impact one's ability to go out or meet up with other friends. There are also quite a few Kellogg students who live in the Reserve.
Safe, walk around at night all the time as a woman without worrying about it. Evanston is boring but has everything you need (grocery, bars, enough decent restaurants).
