Overall Positive Experience

Enjoy the management, feel of the apartment, access to gym and lounge, and the location. Only downside is the pool is not very good.

Thin walls offset good amenities

The onsite maintenance is excellent and responsive, and the package reception service is very helpful. However, the walls of the actual unit are paper thin. I can hear my neighbors' normal volume conversations word for word through the walls, and it often sounds like there is a stampede upstairs.

Great price and location for a managed building

There are quite a lot of Kellogg students at the Reserve and it makes sense given that the prices tend to be more affordable than some of the other managed buildings (like E2 or Centrum). Most units are updated with hard wood floors and stainless steel appliances. The outside of the building isn't that nice looking but it has been recently renovated inside so the units and common room space is great and we've used it a lot for Kellogg study group meetings and social gatherings. Free coffee is actually really good here! Package pickup can be a bit crazy some times. Management is pretty good and maintenance requests are speedy/easy to request on the website. There is a gym in the building but it's quite small so I've only used it a couple times. I can hear the people that live above me through the ceiling but it's not too bad (mostly just hear footsteps). I don't hear anything from my neighbors to the left or right but I think the way our apartment is laid out means that we would be unlikely to hear them.

Nice place, okay location

The reserve is a really nice building. It has a reasonably outfitted gym and a nice area for residents to hang out, complete with free coffee. My apartment is huge for a 1BR. Management is good, there's a nice little pool. Etc. All of the amenities you might want.

My only qualm is the location. It's a pretty long 18-20 minute walk to the Kellogg global hub and also a good 10-15 minutes from most of downtown Evanston. For being as far as I am from downtown, it would be better if I was also closer to class.

Solid Option

The Reserve is a great option. It may not have all the sexy amenities as some of the newer buildings, but it is cheaper, a good location and more than suitable for graduate students.

Awesome unit and location

Located very conveniently in downtown Evanston near the Davis metra and El stations. Quiet condo building that is mostly non-students so not a good spot for people who want to host frequently, but ideal for someone who is looking for a relaxing place to go home to. Great indoor pool facility that is well maintained and usually available for lap swimming. Pretty solid gym as well with a good mix of machines. Doormen are helpful and friendly. Also good indoor bike storage and basement storage units. Love this spot!

Love

I love living at the Reserve because it's quiet but really close to everyone at E2. The management team is attentive. I have one of the Elite units which I really recommend!

Northeast Evanston Reviews

I think technically this is considered Northeast Evanston, but you'd never know it. It does feel a bit more suburban than downtown does, but you are just so close to downtown that it feels weird calling it something else. It has all the benefits of being in downtown while being a bit more peaceful.
Neighborhood is safe -- lots of other Kellogg students nearby. Occasional emails from Northwestern warning of criminal activity in the area, but I have not witnessed anything that makes me feel unsafe.

Neighborhood is also quiet as its a decent walk from the bars and other nightlife.
The neighborhood is perfect. For Kellogg students, it's close to the Jake, relatively close to the new building, and close to all the other Evanston apartments to never be a problem meeting up with people. It's right next to the Foster St L line and a couple blocks from the Metra.
Sherman and Noyes is a great little pocket of Evanston with lots of shops and restaurant options, a specialty grocer and easy access to the train. There are a lot of undergrads in the area but the noise hasn't been a problem at all. Great for couples, families and pets.
If you're looking for a neighborhood feel, living in NE Evanston is perfect. You're just a 10-minute walk from downtown Evanston, but it's a bit quieter -- and housing prices are way more reasonable than being in a high-rise.
Pretty much everyone in Kellogg lives near-ish to downtown Evanston and I'd say it's definitely helpful so that you can easily meet up with others or get to and from social events. Evanston is pretty cute too!
A little further from downtown, but doesn't impact one's ability to go out or meet up with other friends. There are also quite a few Kellogg students who live in the Reserve.
Safe, walk around at night all the time as a woman without worrying about it. Evanston is boring but has everything you need (grocery, bars, enough decent restaurants).
