Crestview Apt

Overall, this has been an excellent experience. Management has been very responsive to maintenance repairs and lets tenants know well in advance when they need to come into each apt (i.e. changing smoke detector batteries).

Positives: Other positives include proximity to Case Western Reserve, it is a bit farther from the new med school building though. Also enjoy the suburban feel.

Negatives: The apartment is on the older side and we do need maintenance more often than I'd like. Also, I think that the amount we are paying (>1100) is a bit high for the age of the apt.

Good location, responsive management

My experience has been quite nice at Crestview. There’s quite a bit of space for 2 people, and the area feels very safe with other students and some families in similar style buildings. For an old building, we really have not had any problems with the place, and management is very responsive to any concerns we have. Probably the only downside is that it is rather cramped in the garage, so my roommate and I both park in a city lot down the street and have to deal with having a car outside in the winter, but overall I’m quite pleased with what we have for this price.

Decent but old

The property is well maintained and maintenance is always quick to respond, though their effectiveness is variable. It is a decent, cheap apartment close to CWRU and the hospitals. It is, however, a very, very old apartment and its age shows. The floors creak, the widows break, and the radiators are always singing a death song. Without air conditioning, the heat in the summer on the top floor is suffocating. My complaints about the apartment are almost entirely related to age. Parking is also a bummer because it's expensive ($50/month), and the garage is very difficult to navigate-- you will most definitely bang up your car a time or two.

Great value, location, covered parking

Great value and location. 10-15 minute walk to the medical school. Safe location. COVERED parking available for 50$ extra, and totally worth it to never have to shovel snow or scrape ice off your car. Apartments have a spacious living room, dining room, and some units have renovated kitchens with granite countertops and new appliances. All kitchens come with a dishwasher and garbage disposal. The apartments are very warm and comfortable in the winter. Robyn, one of the apartment managers, is very kind and makes sure any maintenance issues are taken care of within 1 business day.

Love this place, quick walk to school, great management, COVERED PARKING!!!

-lots of medical students live here
-COVERED, private parking garage (50$/mo, but worth it in the winter!)
-window AC unit for $10/mo
-management is VERY responsive to repairs, concerns, etc. they respond quickly and take care of everything from clogged toilets to dead light bulbs and AC issues.
-apartments have small balconies
-laundry downstairs (unfortunately you have to pay with quarters)
-bike storage room downstairs
-some units have an updated kitchen (new appliances, granite countertops). contact them EARLY and ASK if you want one of these units.

Great management, great location

Management is quick to fix issues. Location is a 5-10 minute drive depending on traffic (with no traffic / all green lights, I can get to school in 4 minutes).

Mayfield Place

This apartment building is well priced and right off Coventry Rd. It includes an air conditioning unit, building washer/dryer, and covered parking. This place may not be the nicest apartment you could get, but very convenient. It is within walking distance of a grocery store and restaurants/bars as well as the CWRU shuttle and two RTA routes (#7 and #9) which both go to some part of campus. The management company has an in-building office. They are friendly and quick to sort out any needed repairs or issues.

Good Location, Lots of Space, No Problems with Management

The Crestview is a really great place to live. I was lucky to get one of the renovated apartments so my kitchen is new which I love. The management company is a really nice set of people that will take care of whatever problems you may have right away. The apartments are huge and while it may be an older building, you don't really ever feel like it's an old building. It's clean and doesn't feel warn down. The closets are huge. There's a patio. Wood floors which do creak a lot so they can be a little annoying especially since you can hear the neighbors walking around, but you get used to it and it isn't that bad. The location is only about a 15 minute walk to the Med School which is awesome and it is generally in a perfect central location for where everyone else will end up living. A lot of medical students and residents also live in the building too so you'll have friends. It is a walk-up which is a little unfortunate but it's also not that tall so it's not a bad walk. There is laundry and dryers in the basement although they are coin operated (my only complaint). There is parking included (it's technically a separate charge but they make it a part of the monthly rent) which is nice and it's a covered garage which is sooo helpful for the bad weather days.

Crestview

My roommate and I lived here all four years of med school, and had great experiences with the management. It's an older apartment building but they're very good about keeping it up, and updating appliances. There's a lot of space, especially in the living room and dining room. Recommend paying a little extra for covered parking in the attached garage (because of snow); your other option is paying for a permit for a city lot down the street. Only one garage parking spot per 2-bedroom apt is guaranteed, but if you and your roommate put in for a 2nd garage spot, pretty good chance of getting off the waitlist.
Great location - 15-20 minute walk to Case medical school/University Hospitals. No issues with safety.
