Very nice amazing management
Don't live here
Run by horrible landlords that do not maintain this property well. My apartment flooded with sewage multiple times and my floors were falling in. Maintenance was unresponsive and entered my apartment without consent on multiple occasions. The parking garage is too small for the number of spaces they have. If all the parking spots are occupied, other cars cannot get in/out of the garage. When this would happened I'd have to park on the street. On one occasion, my car was stolen. Coin operated laundry would not work for weeks at a time.

Great mid level place
Love this apartment!
I love my apartment, I have lived here for 4 years. It is very spacious and an amazing deal for the price. I live with one roommate, we each have our own bedroom/bathroom and parking spot and I pay $635 per month. Montlack management is excellent they always respond to emails regarding things in the apartment that need to be fixed within 1-2 days.
Good location
Hello, I’m going to be very honest. I’ve lived in the same location since I started graduate school three years ago (2419 overlook rd Cleveland heights 44106). I very much like the location as it is within walking distance to CWRU, Coventry, and Cedar-Lee areas. The CWRU shuttle also has multiple stops near by. This is an ideal location for someone who doesn’t have a car or wants to commute by foot or public transit to campus. It’s about 0.4 miles away and the closest apartment to campus on Overlook rd. Parking on campus can be expensive which is why I chose to live close enough to walk. The apartment is about 1000 sq ft with a living room, kitchen, 1 bathroom, 1 bedroom, dining room and private patio. My kitchen appliances are very outdated and I’ve had frequent plumbing problems. The landlords are not very responsive or organized. Getting something repaired takes weeks at best. I have on site parking but the garage is very small and my car has been hit multiple times. They do not have a way to pay rent online and rent must be paid by check and placed in a box on site. Multiple times they have not been able to find my check. Laundry is quarter operated however we are in the midst of a pandemic which has caused a quarter shortage. This has not made doing laundry an easy task. This apartment has is my private patio which is the reason I still live here and my cats love it. Only two apartments on the property have this. Other units do have updated kitchens and new floors but my apartments is not one of them.
TLDR; great location, sub-par facility, below average landlord
Crestview Montlack
Management is responsive, and I've rented 2 separate apartments from them. I love the size of the apartment. The location is great for me as I can walk to campus, and they have garage parking so driving even in the winter isn't a hassle. Feels safe in the neighborhood, and the apartment allows up to 2 cats per residence. The walls are a bit thin, so neighbors can be heard. Overall I think it is worth the money, and I plan to continue leasing.
Duke Review
Montlack Management has been a great landlord to work with. Very responsive, quick fix times. Be aware that Montlack Management is different from Montlack Realty, another apartment management company which is considerably less reliable and about whom I've heard from friends. My apartment is long and goes from the street to the courtyard, so I have great sunlight in the living room (yay) but poor sunlight in the dining room (boo). There are plenty of storage rooms in the basement, which is great for me as I put my bikes there (though there is also a bike rack in the laundry room) and my brewing equipment (the temps stay between 65 and 75F there). The radiator heating means you'll never get cold, but you will have to fiddle with radiator settings to get a comfortable temperature (not like a thermostat) and you will need humidifiers (gets <20% without any). Also, you may need a window AC unit (or two if you'd like more than your bedroom cooled) during a hot summer. This place is also a block from a bus stop, close to the CWRU shuttle stop, 5 minutes biking to campus (10 minutes back cause of the hill), and close to coventry. I've never had any issues with security here. Overnight street parking in Cleveland Heights requires a phone call to the police department, so keep that in mind for guests. Laundry is $1.25 for washing, another $1.25 for drying. I have no idea what the "Social" entree is in the Detailed ratings section below- is it meant to say how close you are to the action (similar to Location) or whether neighbors chat? I don't chat with neighbors, so idk, figured 6 for an average response there.
Great value, responsive management
No issues with utilities, appliances, pests, or anything else I can think of. Maintenance & management are quick to respond. Great neighborhood, pretty quiet neighbors. Large apartment, parking behind the building.
Decent Cheap Living
Lived here for 4 years. The building shows its age often. Had trouble with critters on several occasions. Maintenance always very responsive, but often found myself wishing I didn't have the problems in the first place. Many wrecks in the garage due to management trying to fit too many cars. On the bright side, the apartment is warm in the winter. Easily walking distance to restaurants, grocery, and UH. Safe neighborhood.
Affordable and well maintained apartment.
The Duke apartments are spacious and well maintained. Montlack management has very fast maintenance and makes paying rent easy. Very affordable for the size and area. My only complaint is that the parking lot is pretty cramped which can make parking a bit difficult at times.
Montlack Management is excellent!
Cannot say enough good things about Montlack Management! Very responsive, with maintenance issues fixed immediately. Tons of space, and very reasonable rent. Two of us share a 3 bedroom because it was so cost effective. As a result, we each have our own bathroom. Parking is also reasonable - $40 for outdoor and $50 for indoor. Most neighbors are also grad students / young professionals, which creates a nice environment. No AC is the only downside, but you can rent window units. Heat is included, which is a huge money saver!
*Do not confuse Montlack Management with Montlack Realty. Montlack Management is excellent, Montlack Realty is AWFUL.
Great apartment for the money
Great apartment. Very spacious, big kitchen with lots of counter space. The leasing company is very responsive and fixes any maintenance issues within a day or 2.
Crestview Review
I love this apartment. Mostly because the management is very quick to fix anything that is broken. It is also a 12 minute walk to Case/University Hospital. Management controls the heat and I haven't had any issues. The apartment was warm throughout the winter. No problems with bugs or mice.
Duke apartments-3 bedroom
Overall I have been very happy with my housing experience. It is well priced, near 2 bus stops that drop off right on campus, spacious, and near many restaurants. There are a few community washers and driers so you need to choose a good time to do laundry when they aren’t filled.
Enjoyed living here
This apartment is big, has an outdoor space (balcony or porch), and the best part is the management is excellent. Whenever I have called for repairs, someone has come within 24-48 hours. It is also a 12 minute walk to Case/UH which is hard to beat. We don't control the heat during the winter, but surprisingly it's never been cold. I know other people have had this problem with their apartments. We have also never had any mice or bugs. My only wish would be that the apartment wouldn't echo noise as much. You cannot hear between bedrooms but noises in the shared living spaces are heard easily in the bedrooms, so if you are a light sleeper, the creaking floors with walking around could be an issue. There is a laundry room in the basement and you pay $2.50 total in quarters to wash and dry a load.
