Nice apartment for a first time renter
This property has a lot of perks that are great for first time renters. The single bedroom apartments are spacious and clean. No mold or rodents. The building is older, so it can't handle running a lot of high-power appliances at the same time (like a dishwasher and an air-fryer), but that's only a minor inconvenience. Most units have a washer and dryer which was a big bonus for me. Also, most utilities are included in the rent (except for parking, electricity, and gas). Maintenance is also very quick and responsive when there is an issue. However, the manager of the apartment isn't the nicest. He can be pretty abrasive and rude when he gets irritated. I haven't had to interact with him very much in the time I've been here, but I've had an equal number of negative and positive experiences with him. My point is, your experience can go either way. Also, the apartment has radiators that are turned on automatically after the outside reaches a certain temperature. If you get cold easily, I would be prepared to have several blankets and socks on hand until the heaters come on. My overall experience has been positive outside of the negative interactions I've had with the manager.

Good enough!
My partner and I weren't able to visit this apartment in person before moving in, but luckily there haven't been too many surprises. The maintenance staff is reasonably responsive, we haven't had any conflicts with other tenants, and we haven't had our unit or our cars broken into.
Re: amenities, the wifi is generally reliable and fast enough (Zoom and PC gaming are both doable). We've had a handful of outages in the last year but it seems like they only happen when there are more widespread power outages in Cleveland Heights. The circuits can't handle too many appliances plugged in at once (i.e. we need to unplug the coffee maker before turning on the microwave), but that's also workable. Heat in the winter is via radiator; sometimes it oscillates between extreme hot and cold but it's not intolerable. Each unit has a couple of ceiling fans and gets a window AC provided/installed in the spring and removed in the fall, which helps deal with the summer heat. Having an in-unit washer/dryer is also convenient.
Obviously it's an old building, so there are some stains/cracks on the walls/floor and the floor isn't 100% even, but it's good enough for now!

Decent apartment but expected better
Pros about apartment:
- In unit washer/dryer
- Dog friendly (but also meant more expensive for the size of apartment)
- Extremely responsive management (usually same day or next morning maintenance)
- Newly renovated bathroom
- Decent kitchen size (which is hard to find with old buildings)
- Great location, walking distance to CWRU, Coventry, Cedar/Fairmount, and cemetery.
Cons:
- Very hot in the summer and window AC unit is not really powerful to keep room cool. We also only have 1 AC unit in the bedroom so the rest of the apartment is like an oven.
- Although wifi is included in the rent, it is extremely slow and disconnects very often. Also each user need to be manually verified by management before they can receive access, so impossible to have guests come over and give them wifi. Would recommend getting separate wifi.
- The apartment space is small for the price we are paying. Also too small for two people.
- Not enough storage space for 2 people.
- Kitchen also doesn't have enough storage or counter space.
- Floor is old and difficult to clean.

Avoid Alan Pearlman
Easily the worst aspect of my time in Cleveland. Would not fix leaks, struggled for months to get the deposit money back (he apparently makes a habit of not returning them), would not fix gas leak, charged me for preexisting damage, etc. etc. etc.

Good experience. Would recommend to other grad students.

Roosevelt apartments was a poor choice
Lots of problems here
1. Water pressure never is more than a dribble out of my shower
2. Heating is a problem; when it gets cold, the management is slow at the switch to turn it on, so it can get chilly in my room
3. Speaking of management, I haven't had any negative interactions, but he is known to be quite unkind, and has been rumored to take tenants to court, knowing that he will win the cases because, as students, most will be out of town in the summer.
4. My bathroom door will not stay closed
5. A friend of mine has a leaky roof, which has not been fixed
6. In general, it is very difficult to get management to fix anything
7. My closet door was unattached to its hinges when I moved in, and I had to fix it if I was going to have a functional door.
8. The workout equipment available is not adequate.
If you have any other comparable options available, do not come here.
