I really like the Sterling

I've had an extremely comfortable experience at the Sterling. All of the front door people are really nice, I've had no issues with mail/packages, the neighbors are nice and there are lots of dogs. I like the location, walking distance to pretty much all popular Wharton apartments and destinations. The rooftop deck is stunning and there's tons of seating for tanning or watching TV or eating, and the pool is nice. There is a lot of variety in terms of apartment types and layouts, and I'm happy with the size of my apartment and the finishes. The building is old and renovated, so sometimes there are minor issues, like the back door to the building will randomly stop working. However, overall I've had a great experience and highly recommend.

Far from school but Excellent otherwise!

It is a 30 minute walk to Perelman/Penn campus although it goes by faster than you think. Alternatively some people take the bus, an option if you do not like walking. Most med students live down in grad hospital so that is a 20-30 minute walk to go where everyone is, but again if you do not mind then it is good.

The building has everything you could ask for, lots of amenities, professional and responsive management, it is very close to all center city activity, has discounts on the sushi, bao, burger, juice and haircut places in the first floor, a pool, and I have no complaints on the heating/air conditioning nor neighbors or noise. I am in one of the cheaper apartments and it came with very modern and unused appliances.

Really great experience.

A little loud, but otherwise great!

I've been very happy with my decision to live in the Sterling. My apartment has is big (~850 sq. ft.) and I have tons of storage space (huge closet + lots of additional storage). The building feels very safe and the everyone who works in the building (concierge, management) has been great and has made things very easy. Because of covid, I haven't really been able to take advantage of the shared spaces.

Regarding the locations, there are some pros & cons. It's been a very convenient location for me -- it's a 5 minute walk from the Rittenhouse area and only about 25 minute door-to-door walk to campus. With that though comes a lot of noise. JFK Blvd is a loud street and the noise is pretty constant, even on the 16th floor. The building is also blocked by other buildings, so the natural light is not great. Otherwise quite happy!

Great building amenities

The building is great. Has a lovely rooftop with pool, a gym, and a tech center. Dry cleaner, coffee shop, small grocery store, and restaurants in the same building. My biggest complaint was my noisy neighbor (blasting music 24/7), the building addressed it with him a few times but the issue never really went away. The elevators also require a bit of a wait at times. It's about a 25 minute walk from the law school.

The Sterling

The apartment is small, but the building and concomitant amenities are fantastic. Beautiful roof-deck and pool, doorman, serviceable gym, in unit washer/dryer, and building repair services are all great. The main advantage to this building is the infrastructure that allows you to focus entirely on your studies. No worries about any of the typical living issues - they're covered!

It's great

We have a lot of space in a beautiful building and it's a great location--not too far of a walk and close to the trolley if you don't feel like walking. Near a lot of bars and restaurants and Rittenhouse park. The building is big and full of a lot of young people.

nice building w/ amenities and close to rittenhouse

I have lived in the Sterling for 2+ years and I love it. The building is in a great location close to Rittenhouse, Trader Joe's, lots of restaurants and bars in Center City.

The amenities are great (gym, pool, package system, tech lounge with meeting rooms and printer). The management and concierge staff are so friendly and responsive to any problems I've had in my apartment. If I have a maintenance issue the repair person comes the same day or next day.

My only issue is the price of rent. My rent has increased every year since I renewed my lease. I am paying significantly more in rent than neighbors in identical units who are moving in now, just because I have lived here longer. So that's kind of a bummer. I think comparatively to other buildings in the same neighborhood the Sterling is a bit overpriced.

Great location for a great price

I've really enjoyed living at the Sterling. Management is very responsive and it is a comfortable living space. Very close to Rittenhouse Square, but just far enough north that the rent is much cheaper. About a 25 minute walk to Penn's campus, or a 10-15 minute trolley ride. Very close to several modes of transportation, including the Airport Line. Apartment rooftop, pool, and gym are fantastic. I appreciate having a secure mailbox and lockers for receiving packages. Would highly recommend living here. Newly renovated with in-unit washer/dryer.

Enjoyed living here so far

Nice building, convenient with gym, pool and a great rooftop. Easy package access system and lots of restaurants / shops downstairs. Walls are a little thin and the apartment has large windows with blinds, but it's hard to make it dark at night with all of the building lights. About 25 minute walk to the law school.

Logan Square Reviews

Loved the neighborhood. Paying for monthly parking in a nearby garage was not outrageously expensive, was close to center city for fun and errand-running, Target and Whole Foods nearby made for easy groceries when I didn’t want to leave the city. Sabrina’s Cafe is nearby, which is super delicious. BSL was about an 8 minute walk to either Spring Garden or Race-Vine, depending on if I was going north or south. Great area for walking around and getting out of your apartment.
The apartment is technically between Logan Square and Rittenhouse Square. We live right above Trader Joe's, which makes grocery shopping a breeze. We spend a lot of time walking around Rittenhouse Square and Rittenhouse neighborhood to pick up groceries, drink coffee, and generally hang out with each other and friends. The river walk is a short walk away, and the Museum District is within walking distance. Back when I was going to school regularly, the Septa trolley stop is conveniently right in front of our apartment and the 30th Street Station is a 10 minute walk away. While the amenities leave some things to be desired and we pay a premium for our location, it is a great place to live especially for newcomers to Philadelphia who want to be next to all the action.
Unless you mind the noise of cars in the street below, you will not have any issues. Given that is center city there are many people experiencing homelessness so if that is a deal breaker I recommend other neighborhoods. The upside is being 5-10 minutes distance from all the fun, restaurants, activities, nightlife, etc.. that you will ever need.
Super close to Whole Foods and Trader Joes, and I love the walk along the parkway. It's close to various museums which is great! Overall the neighborhood is pretty residential, but there are coffee shops and to-go restaurants that are easy to access.
The neighborhood is a little more commercial but only a minute away from everything wonderful in rittenhouse. But it feels very safe at all times because it’s on a major street.
It is a great location. The law school is a 15 minute walk. Most of Center City is also within a 20 minute radius. A lot of other law students live nearby.
Lots of great bars and restaurants in the area. One of the safest and nicest areas in Philly. There are generally lots of people walking around.
Close to tons of great places to eat/drink, shop, etc. Walking distance to anything in Center City/Callowhill/Art Museum areas.
