Roaches are still a thing
Biggest gripe that i have is that the issue with roaches (reported on very apt reviews for years) is still ongoing. The building told me that they were taking proactive steps to fix it, but have been unresponsive on email and don’t seem to care at all. I have been connected directly with the building manager twice and he has flat out ignored my emails. Issue is that the roaches seem to enter apartments via the pipes and underneath doors, so you don’t need to do anything wrong and can still end up spotting them. Can’t feel at home here as a result.
Beyond this, everything is quite unprofessional - i have had maintenance enter my apartment without asking my permission (management control the keypad locks on the door) and failing to explain why even after complaining to reception. Emails are regularly ignored, package check-in can take hours to complete. Concierge is disinterested.
The building itself is fine, location is fine for Wharton students (v near trolley to campus and close enough to Rittenhouse although it could be closer), although JFK can be noisy on lower levels (NB Philly has an issue with gangs of roaming idiots playing outrageously loud music and modifying their exhausts to create maximum noise late at night, so plan for much louder road noise than you would typically expect).

Expensive but safe
The experience has been great though the cost is much higher than what I would have liked

Great apartment for grad students
My roommate and I love The Sterling. The apartment is about a 25 minute walk to the law school. It is also very close to great restaurants (including an amazing sushi restaurant & bagel shop right under the building). There is a pool and gym at the top floor. Our only complaint is that the temperature is difficult to control because there is not central AC.

1Y Experience
The roof deck is great for hanging with friends or doing work. The gym is well equipped, so I don't need a separate membership. The rooms are spacious and there is a ton of closet space.
I live on a high floor and face south, so I get a lot of sun in the a.m.

great!
All units are renovated. Rooftop pool is beautiful. Building gym is pretty big and has lots of machines. Units are not super large given what you pay for. Management was responsive. Have to pay for package system which works well but have to pickup packages within 2-3 days or else you get charged. No thermostat system so heat and AC is on/off system.

Severe Cockroach Problem Causing Emotional Distress
Been seen a ton of disgusting cockroaches since day 1 and not only is management charging me for pet control, but even the pet control professional said "this is bad" when he came. He now came every week and I'm only seen marginally improvement.
The crawling cockroaches are a recurring nightmare and are causing a lot of emotional distress for me. I am looking to move out but Is there a way of recourse in this situation?
