Nice place, close to bus stop

About a 30 minute walk from campus and there's a bus stop right outside the subdivision. There's also a shuttle if you feel like getting to campus quite early. I like the apartment, there's a clubhouse with meeting rooms, a gym, and free breakfast & coffee on weekdays, which are nice amenities.

Overall a great place to live

The apartment is spacious and the neighborhood is very family friendly. The place was a bit dated but mostly clean when we moved in. The biggest issue was mold in the bathroom that we had to address, and they were a little bit slow on maintenance requests but nothing too egregious.

Lovely for older students with a long-term partner and for pet owners

My partner and I rent a townhome at Woodbury Gardens and absolutely love it. Maintenance is very responsive, the community is clean and well-kept, and best of all it’s quiet! My partner and I wanted to avoid complexes with a large undergrad population, rent somewhere pet-friendly, and that was within our budget. We pay the same amount at Woodbury for a 2 bedroom townhome than we would for a one bedroom apartment in a complex closer to the law school. It’s right on the bus line, and walkable to the Burns Park area which is lovely. Overall we really enjoy living here and our dog does too, since there’s a private dog park on the property!

Best place to live in Ann Arbor

I have lived in Ann Arbor and this is the best place I have lived. Many law students live here. It is a 10 min walk to the stadium and a 5 minute bus ride to the law school. Close to grocery stores (including Costco) by car. Also close to York and Black Diesel (my favorite coffee shops in town).

Good but could be better

Woodbury is a convenient place to live with everything you need on site. I will say that the townhouses are built very "basic" and even in the "upgraded" ones they don't seem that upgraded. The rent is expensive for what you actually get.

Good place to live

Includes dog park that is rarely full in the morning (but fills up with doggies in the evening). About a 25-30 minute walk from the law school, but there is a bus stop right by the complex that also has a The Ride bus line to the law school. Area seems safe and lots of students live in the community. Property came clean and any work orders are addressed fast. Easy to communicate with the property oversight staff as you can just walk to the clubhouse during office hours. Walls in the apartment (at least at 1203 Astor Ave) seem thick enough, have not had any noise issues living on the basement level. Property is well maintained and great for walking dogs around or jogging. Property has a community pool and basic gym in the clubhouse building.

Only downside is if you do not have a car, there is no major grocery outlet within walking distance. The property does offer a shuttle service to the grocery store every week (or every other week).

If you get a referral from an existing resident, they will give some sort of discount BUT you must go out of your way to tell them you got that referral before (or right after, I think) you apply for the apartment. The application does not include somewhere to put the referral.

Good Value, but some things to be improved.

Woodbury is a great neighborhood for students with pets, a partner, and/or family. The apartments have great value given the amount of space you receive for what you pay. A downside which may be taken up with the local utility DTE, is the power seems to go out more frequently than other neighborhoods. I am able to take 4 different buses to get to Ross, in addition to free/cheap parking options.

Great but overpriced.

The unit is very nice. Maintenance is generally very quick and accommodating. Rent is just crazy though. This is true of all of Ann Arbor. Students HAVE to be here for school so landlords can prey on them by charging outrageous prices. Rent and housing prices nation wide have skyrocketed due to poor zoning from administrators, greedy landlords and land owners, etc. But Ann arbor is ridiculous. Housing prices are relatively equivalent to Chicago...a major city in the country. That is simply unrealistic. Woodbury apartments as well as every other landlord in the city preys on students every time they collect the rent.

Great Community

There are a lot of MBA students, especially with family. I am not sure if Woodbury is best in terms of locations, etc. But the community is definitely a benefit of living here.

Woodbury Gardens is its own community - so we don't get a lot of surrounding neighborhood effect and it's quieter.

I haven't had to go to school in person yet (due to the pandemic) - but once things are back in person, I would use the community shuttle to get to campus and possibly back depending on the time of day I head back. Otherwise, I would take the bus or walk. Walking takes about 30 min but the bus will cut down most of that since there is a city stop right at the entrance to Woodbury.
Overall, a nice and quiet neighborhood that feels secure and is slightly removed from campus, so you're away from the hustle and bustle of the University. Definitely a grad student neighborhood. Close to public transit lines, and there is a nice grocery store near the apartment complex. Running trails are nearby, and road access to I-94 is pretty quick as well. Within an extended walk of campus, the Big House, and Ross. Really enjoy living here.
I like the convenience of getting to Ross in six minutes for class, group meetings, or coffee chats. It’s great to be able to come home and grab a quick bite before changing into a suit and walking back over. Easy walk to hockey games, and about 15 minutes to Bus/Big House. Well situated to make it to social gatherings at Skeeps, Rick’s, Munger, or any other place.
Woodbury is on the other side of Stadium Ave from Burns Park, but it's convenient access. The complex itself is pretty friendly; lots of law students around though it takes a bit of effort to get to know neighbors since everyone is on their own schedules and it's a generally older crowd.
Quiet neighborhood, many UMich grad students. Good availability of shops and amenities. Definitely has a more suburban feel than the areas closest to campus/downtown and not as many restaurants/bars nearby.
Quieter area with more families and not many undergraduate students. Still walkable to campus, but you probably won’t want to do the walk in the winter and need a car to get to grocery stores.
The neighborhood has everything you need (grocery, coffee, pharmacy, etc.) and is close to the Big House. It is farther away from downtown's bars, restaurants, and other amenities.
Safe, albeit there have been bicycle theft issues. It is quiet here in the community. Walking distance to UM Stadium, not far from Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Plum Market, etc...
