The Statesman reviews and highlights
- clean and safe building
- on the pricier side
- maintenance is very helpful and responds to issues right away
- can't beat the location
Great Place
My apartment is a converted one bedroom into two bedrooms. Its enough for two people. The people working in the apartment complex are really nice.

Awesome place to live
Great housing - is extremely helpful and quickly responds to any maintenance requests. Despite the widespread crime all across . My only complaint is that I wish they would clean the windows. Clean the pavement and Overall, I have no regrets! Thanks

Great Location
I have been living in the Statesman for a few months now and I really like the location being so close to classes at GW. The downsides are that laundry is expensive, there are no major amenities, and the grocery store is not as close as I'd like it to be.

Great for GW students
This apartment building is incredibly convenient if you are a student at GW. Foggy Bottom is an expensive neighborhood, but sharing an apartment at the Statesman is still cheaper than sharing a dorm as a junior or senior. My 8th floor apartment faces west, so we get great sunlight in the afternoon. Management can be a little slow to respond to emails, but in general, living in the Statesman is great.

Great for Students
The Statesman is great for students. Conveniently located on GWU's campus, the building is close to all campus buildings and classes. The only drawback it the building is primarily students so expect weekend parties and some loudness is the hallways.

The Statesman
Great if you want/ need to live in Foggy Bottom. But if you don't have to live in Foggy Bottom, I wouldn't choose the statesman. It's great for what it is and you can't beat the location if you want to be near GW, but you can get more somewhere else for the price.

The Statesman - awesome location
If you want to live close to campus, it's great. But it can get loud because of the undergrads who live in the building. Expensive for what you're getting, but you can't beat the location.

Awesome apartment experience
The Statesman is an excellent place to live. There are tons of GW grad students, as well as a good mix of young professionals. The management and staff are really friendly and seem to genuinely care about doing a good job. The apartments themselves are spacious and look pretty nice. Because of all the students, it can get pretty loud depending on your neighbors but the walls are pretty thick and insulate noise well.

Superiority over alternatives
Because it's commercially managed, you rarely have troubles with the landlord .Work orders are submitted electronically and get resolved within 2 days sometimes hours. The rent fee does not exceed those of other alternatives. I cannot give a 10/10 for its burdensome rent, which is yet well vindicated by its location in DC and proximity to GW Law.

Too many rowdy undergrads
I live in this building because of it's excellent location, it is only 2 blocks from the law school. However, this convenience comes at a price, I regularly have to deal with rowdy undergrads who Make noise until 4am. The walls are paper thin so I hear everything. Also, whenever someone smokes in their apartment the smell leaks into mine. My studio is pretty spacious and my windows let in the sunlight. the maintenance people are great. I wish I could bring my car but garage parking is an additional 270 per month which is not doable on a student budget. there are plenty of washers and dryers in the basement ($1.95 per load) and a mini gym with a few weights and treadmills. There's no special amenities in the building that are worth noting.
