Good, cheap place to live near school

The Letterman House consists of condos, not apartments, so every apartment unit is different. The building is old but is in good shape nonetheless. The best part about this place is the cheap rent and that the building mostly houses students.

The guy at the front desk is super mean and complains all the time.

Great Location

Really close to campus, and the building has been updated recently. The Letterman House is all condos, so I think your experience there will vary depending on who you're renting from. Units facing the street can tend to be pretty noisy, particularly with events the undergrads are participating in.

Great experience

Letterman is an unbeatable location. Good price for such a central location too. There is a building manager who deals with packages. No gym or many amenities. No laundry in unit, however, there is a communal laundry room in basement. Mostly students, but also people working in the area. Very quiet building, but can hear noises of the city/ students in the area on weekends. Feels very safe too since nestled on campus. 10 min walk to foggy/ farragut metro.

great place

This apartment complex is very quiet. They are good about communication. It is a condominium so each apartment is owned by an individual not by the management company. Thus, some of the people that live here are older and working, and others are students. They recently redid the lobby and the carpeting in the hallways. They also repainted all the doors. There is a pool, but it has not been open since before I moved in. They recently updated their basement laundry services and now it is all mobile, which is nice.

Perfect for GW Law Students

Letterman House is perfect for GW law students. It's situated on a beautiful street and it's a 2-minute walk away from the law school. A lot of GW law students and other GW grad students live here and they're conscientious about noise levels. The only cons are the sounds from the undergrad students partying outside at night on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, the management is just so-so (it's not very professional and they aren't very responsive), and the guy at the front desk isn't very friendly.

Great Location

I really enjoy living so close to campus - the short walk makes living in a studio worth it. These units are rented out individually, so your landlord is different than the company managing the building, which can cuase complications. The walls are thick, so you'll never hear noise from neighbors, but if your unit faces the street, it does tend to get loud.

Great Location

The best thing about this apartment is its location to the monuments and to GW Law School. Very thick walls, so I never hear noise from other apartments, but I live right on an intersection with lots of windows in my unit, so it can get a little loud. I haven't had any issues with management, pests, package pickup, or security, which has been great. Recent remodel makes the hallways and lobby feel really nice.

Good Apartment for Location

I enjoyed living in Letterman because of its proximity to campus and dowtown DC. The location is excellent for going to school and getting to other areas like Dupont or Georgetown. The apartment itself is probably on the lower end for cost in Foggy Bottom, however its still expensive. The building itself is average with basic amenities and my studio was satisfactory in size. It is nothing special but I don't have any complaints either.

Love this area, right near Logan Circle and 14th street which has so much good food and nightlife!
Amazing neighborhood. Close to GW and close to so much good food and nice restaurants.
Sometimes noisy, but the front desk quickly deal with it if you ask
Great, Safe neighborhood with great food and close to campus.
Foggy Bottom/West End are great for 1Ls -- you will get to know the area around school and you will be conveniently within a few blocks of GW. There are a lot of food options, but night life is lacking (though you're a short walk to DuPont and Georgetown). There are plenty of busses and metros around.
Good only in the sense that it is near the school, that you can receive warnings from the school and D.C. (if signing up), that you can be assured of safety generally even if coming in late due to pulling off night studies in the library. However, noise levels are high, so you can hardly study indoors at home because of people wanting to earn money in exchange for their loud and terrible performances. This means that you may ultimately end up outside for work or rest during morning/afternoon. Noise in the evening can be high too due to some people having gone drunk. Noise (some loud trucks and mostly machine sounds) and lights can be too much for sleeping deeply.
It's really only convenient because of how close the law school is. Otherwise, I would not live here. Definitely a business/corporate area that shuts down on the weekends. Not a lot of options for going out to eat unless it's either overpriced or fast food. The only grocery store that's walking distance is Whole Foods, which I personally hate shopping at.
The Aston is the furthest GW housing from the campus, so we had to walk more than any other student to get to class. We are also the furthest away from any Metro station, but still not considerably far when you look at the big picture. There are grocery stores, bars, and restaurants nearby which is a perk, but it is pretty noisy around here. But I guess that's anywhere in Downtown DC. There are always cars honking, ambulance sirens, etc. But the area seems pretty safe.
