Overall great

The building can't be beaten for location, it's a 5 minute walk tops to the school. There are only a couple negatives I'd point out. First, if you live on the wrong side of the building, the laundry can be quite a walk. Second, I'm not sure if it's just my apartment but the floors seem to get dusty quite quickly. However, the apartments are very spacious and I've never had problem actually finding an open washing machine or dryer, despite doign laundry on Sundays.

Great location, expensive rent

The statesman is in a great location for law students. The front desk staff is very friendly, and management is responsive to issues. I think the rent for a studio is very high, especially after the rent increase after my first year of living here. My studio is a good size, 625 square feet, but it’s still hard to justify the rent considering this isn’t a luxury building by any means

A solid option if you want to live close to school

This is a very good place to live. Very close to GW Law school, apartments are spacious, and depending on their location in the building, can get a lot of light. The blinds are not very good at blocking out the light though, fyi. The building has a rooftop deck and small fitness center in the basement. Security is solid, need a keycard to get in the front and back entrances, and there are 4 elevators total, 2 in the front of the building 2 in the back. Lots of closet storage, but the kitchen has limited counter space, and only one outlet for appliances. Gas stove and a garbage disposal are nice. The finishings (cabinets/counters/flooring) are pretty mediocre, but for the price, amenities, and good location, it's a worthy trade off.

It's a great place!

My one bedroom apartment in The Statesman is very spacious. I have two closets, a bathroom, and a kitchen. I recommend this apartment building for its kind neighbors, cleanliness, view, amenities, space, and more. It is so spacious, that a couple and a pet can easily and comfortably live here. Although it is on a college campus, the residents that live here are respectful and are responsible. However, because it is a college campus, traffic can be chaotic during rush hour. The stoplights are a minute long, so I recommend taking transportation rather than driving.

Great Foggy Bottom studio

Very large for a studio and great location - 2 blocks from the law school! Expensive, but in line with other foggy bottom studios. Management is great, maintenance comes within the same day whenever there is a problem

If you want to be close to GW it's a great building. The front desk is very nice. Maintenance is very helpful and responds to issues right away. Very spacious studios. Clean and safe. Not the most exciting neighborhood but you know what you're getting if you want to be near school.

Love this area, right near Logan Circle and 14th street which has so much good food and nightlife!
Amazing neighborhood. Close to GW and close to so much good food and nice restaurants.
Sometimes noisy, but the front desk quickly deal with it if you ask
Great, Safe neighborhood with great food and close to campus.
Foggy Bottom/West End are great for 1Ls -- you will get to know the area around school and you will be conveniently within a few blocks of GW. There are a lot of food options, but night life is lacking (though you're a short walk to DuPont and Georgetown). There are plenty of busses and metros around.
Good only in the sense that it is near the school, that you can receive warnings from the school and D.C. (if signing up), that you can be assured of safety generally even if coming in late due to pulling off night studies in the library. However, noise levels are high, so you can hardly study indoors at home because of people wanting to earn money in exchange for their loud and terrible performances. This means that you may ultimately end up outside for work or rest during morning/afternoon. Noise in the evening can be high too due to some people having gone drunk. Noise (some loud trucks and mostly machine sounds) and lights can be too much for sleeping deeply.
It's really only convenient because of how close the law school is. Otherwise, I would not live here. Definitely a business/corporate area that shuts down on the weekends. Not a lot of options for going out to eat unless it's either overpriced or fast food. The only grocery store that's walking distance is Whole Foods, which I personally hate shopping at.
The Aston is the furthest GW housing from the campus, so we had to walk more than any other student to get to class. We are also the furthest away from any Metro station, but still not considerably far when you look at the big picture. There are grocery stores, bars, and restaurants nearby which is a perk, but it is pretty noisy around here. But I guess that's anywhere in Downtown DC. There are always cars honking, ambulance sirens, etc. But the area seems pretty safe.
