Nice, but a bit pricey

Avalon Courthouse Place has overall been a good experience. There have been sporadic elevator issues, but otherwise I have no complaints. Maintenance is very responsive and the amenities are nice.

Great building and building staff, a bit far from campus

I love living at Avalon Courthouse. The staff is stand-out and bend over backwards to take care of you and your unit. Special shout-out to Frank! Amenities are good - gym is fairly well outfitted; pool gets good sun and has a fun, but relaxed vibeThe building is a bit older; package delivery is secure; parking and additional storage is available for a small additional fee.

The building is a bit on the older side, but the layouts are great (and thee closets!) and generally a better value than other buildings in the area, particularly newer builds. The building is showing some age - elevators have been a bit unreliable and the jacuzzi was not in service over the summer - but overall I have been happy with the living experience.

The biggest drawback is it is a little less convenient to campus than I expected. It's about a 15-minute walk to the Rosslyn shuttle. Alternatively, you can walk all the way (45 min), e-bike (15-20min), Uber (7min). Also, fewer students live in the Rosslyn/Courthouse area than I expected and I find I'm in DC most weekends, so as much as I love the building, I plan to move into DC proper at the end of my lease.

Nice apartment and location

Good location close to metro so it's easy for commuting to McLean but also very easy to get into DC. Can walk to Whole Foods in 7 minutes, and Trader Joe's in 11. Apartment is nice and quiet. Things haven't broken so that's good too. A lot of other ADPs live in the area so it's really easy to hang out.

Great place to live!

I really love my apartment and my building's management. I am less than a block away from the courthouse metro station which puts me about 10 minutes away from GWUH. My neighbourhood is quiet but there are still many things to do nearby. Avalon Courthouse has a great resident lounge, gym, and pool. It is also very dog friendly.

Great community to live in!

I love living at the Avalon Courthouse Place. The staff is extremely friendly and responsive. Even though the apartments aren't updated, it's still a very comfortable place to live. The metro station is less than a block away and Wholefoods is within a 10 minute walk. Easy commute to the city and quiet neighborhood.

Great value!

Avalon Courthouse Place provides solid value for the area and proximity to the metro. It's about $300+ cheaper per month than apartment buildings only a street away, the metro is one block away, and the staff is friendly, helpful, and prompt. The property doesn't have any bells and whistles. It's a little older, and the building's hallways, elevators, etc., could use a little bit better maintenance, but the units are clean and pretty spacious. It also only takes about 30 min between walking out of my door and being in class at MSB, using the metro (one stop from Courthouse to Rosslyn) + the GUTS shuttle. It's convenient and pleasant!

Clarendon Reviews

Very safe and quiet. There are some good restaurants close by and it’s a quick walk to Clarendon for more dining options.
Safe, clean, and plenty to do. DC proper is very accessible.
LOVE LOVE LOVE my neighborhood. I'm between dupont and u street, so it's not in the middle of it all, which I appreciate. I'm literally 2 blocks from 14th street where all the great restaurants/bars are. I'm also 5-7 mins walking distance to multiple grocery stores (Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Safeway). It's quiet enough to feel like I'm not in a city, but i'm steps away from being reminded that I am.
Courthouse (located right between Rosslyn and Clarendon), is a very convenient area, with lots of shopping, grocery stores, convenience stores, and restaurants. The metro station is in the center of the neighborhood and leads right to downtown DC, and the area feels very safe, including at night.
This is a very good neighborhood with an easy commute to McLean. It's a very walkable area with Trader Joes and Whole Foods nearby and many other shops, restaurants and bars. There is also a dog park as well as a park (Rocky Run) that has basketball courts and a turf field.
A nice place with plenty of night life, restaurants, and things to do. Pretty safe and upscale. A little cheaper than living in Foggy Bottom but were it not for my wife's work, I might opt to be closer to GW. The commute isnt bad though, 15 or 20 mins by metro.
Average neighborhood, food scene is unexceptional. If the law school wasn't right here I wouldn't be living here. Tons of crowds and people not taking masks / social distancing / pandemic in general serious and going to bars and clubs.
DC people are snooty about those living in Clarendon, but I love it! You get out of the city to a safe, walk-able area with high-end shops and restaurants steps from home. Metro and bus access is fantastic! I don't need a car!
