Nice

Good for pets if you have a service/support animal. Otherwise, there's a large up-front fee and monthly costs for at least cats and dogs.

Circulation throughout the apartment isn't great. Not sure if our stuff is dustier from having carpet for the first time or if someone's pet or dust is drifting into our place -- my cat and I can't stop sneezing or waking up with stuffy noses.

The view from some apartments is nice, I'd double check yours before you get it. They send a lot of anti-smoking messages so maybe some people are throwing ash off their balconies? Not sure.

I haven't heard noise from others, but I'm not sure if I have next-door neighbors as I've never seen them.

Had some maintenance issues and they got sorted pretty quickly which is nice, but also nice to not have maintenance issues. They also didn't tell us when the pool was closing, which is kind of annoying.

Good food isn't a far walk

PRICES FLUCTUATE A LOT, so try to get a place outside of the rush!! A week after I rented, all the apartments dropped in price </3.

I do love that they check in all packages so nothing has been lost or stolen though, which was a huge issue in a past apartment. If moving was super easy, I'd maybe look for a cheaper place with as much or more space as long as it was still as convenient commute-wise. I'd rather walk 2 minutes to the metro than 15 minutes in bad weather even if it sucks to have to consider when the trains are running

Solid Basic Choice

Overall, the experience has been great. The apartments are newly renovated (I believe we're the first in our unit since it was upgraded) and pretty nice (hardwood laminate and tile floors, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances). They're probably on the smaller side for the area, but it's a pretty efficient, open layout. Common areas are small (roof deck with small pool and 2 grills, small gym with some treadmills, ellipticals, weight machines and Dumbbells, lobby sitting area), but newly renovated as well. As a comparison to Avalon Place across the street, units are a little bit smaller, but nicer, while common areas are much smaller and probably not quite as nice.
There are a few really good restaurants in and around the plaza, and Clarendon is only a 10 minute walk. Being essentially on top of the orange and silver lines also makes getting into DC easy (although getting to Georgetown requires switching to the shuttle at Rosslyn, or a 45 minute walk on nice days).
My only two real complaints are that utilities are split among the entire building (rather than metered for each unit), which both encourages overuse and prevents you from saving money on them through your own action, so they're fairly high (around $200/month, vs more like $150ish at other buildings nearby). Being on a relatively low floor (7) and facing the plaza, we also get a decent amount of noise from Courthaus Social when it's open late. It's not enough to keep me awake, but it is noticeable. I suspect units on the other side or higher floors wouldn't have that issue. Finally, it's a really minor issue, but the layout of spaces in the parking garage is a little funky, which makes it very difficult to get in and out of some spaces and makes a lot of them completely unusable. I've never had a problem finding a space, it's just occasionally a long walk or a tight squeeze.

Slow to React

The building is great, but for what you pay the management is unattentive to concerns. Work orders are often lazily addressed, and the building management rarely replies to emails unless you CC multiple people on the staff. Also, key parts of the building such as elevators are often in disrepair.

Great Location

Great location, close to the metro, restaurants and entertainment. Clean and quiet. I have a 2 bedroom on a very high floor and it gets sunshine all day long. That definitely helps with the heating bill in the winter. Everything is very spacious and there's lots of storage space.

Great building

Living here for almost 5 years, the entire time I've lived in the DC area, I can say I've been happy with management and facilities (rooftop pool deck is AMAZING). You do pay more for the location, and now you're also paying for the upgrades they've been doing to the units as people move out - new cabinets, wood floor in living area, granite counter tops. I've been happy with management, maintenance, and concierge over the years. Rent goes up $50-100 between lease years, but I'm always afraid it'll be higher now that the building is renovated.

Excellent value, practically DC

This place is so great as it doesn't make you feel cramped like in the heart of DC. That said, just being a 3 second walk to the Orange line is clutch. The movie theatre next door has great seats and cheap tickets before noon. With a starbucks at the front, there is literally nothing left to want.

Great location

Courthouse Plaza Apartments has a great location. It's steps away from the Courthouse Metro Station, Starbucks, CourtHaus bar, and numerous restaurants. The amenities are on the top floor providing amazing views! Especially from the rooftop deck. The floor plan I have is not roommate style which makes splitting rent equally a little unfair.

Great location and solid team

Maintenance responsiveness has gone down hill but generally still a great place to live with a good management team. The roof deck, pool, and gym are fantastic to have, and my rent is way lower than my friends in DC proper (plus it hasn't gone up in four years).

Getting around Clarendon

Clarendon Reviews

Very safe and quiet. There are some good restaurants close by and it’s a quick walk to Clarendon for more dining options.
Safe, clean, and plenty to do. DC proper is very accessible.
LOVE LOVE LOVE my neighborhood. I'm between dupont and u street, so it's not in the middle of it all, which I appreciate. I'm literally 2 blocks from 14th street where all the great restaurants/bars are. I'm also 5-7 mins walking distance to multiple grocery stores (Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Safeway). It's quiet enough to feel like I'm not in a city, but i'm steps away from being reminded that I am.
Courthouse (located right between Rosslyn and Clarendon), is a very convenient area, with lots of shopping, grocery stores, convenience stores, and restaurants. The metro station is in the center of the neighborhood and leads right to downtown DC, and the area feels very safe, including at night.
This is a very good neighborhood with an easy commute to McLean. It's a very walkable area with Trader Joes and Whole Foods nearby and many other shops, restaurants and bars. There is also a dog park as well as a park (Rocky Run) that has basketball courts and a turf field.
A nice place with plenty of night life, restaurants, and things to do. Pretty safe and upscale. A little cheaper than living in Foggy Bottom but were it not for my wife's work, I might opt to be closer to GW. The commute isnt bad though, 15 or 20 mins by metro.
Average neighborhood, food scene is unexceptional. If the law school wasn't right here I wouldn't be living here. Tons of crowds and people not taking masks / social distancing / pandemic in general serious and going to bars and clubs.
DC people are snooty about those living in Clarendon, but I love it! You get out of the city to a safe, walk-able area with high-end shops and restaurants steps from home. Metro and bus access is fantastic! I don't need a car!
