Duplex with Hobbyist Landlord
I have lived in this duplex for all 3 years of law school and it is great for 5 reasons: (1) large backyard (2) sufficient storage space (3) private parking (4) nice kitchen (5) easy biking distance to school and pearl street.
One cautionary note: living in any duplex, your co-inhabitants make a huge difference in your enjoyment of the space. 90% of people are fine, but big partiers or cranky children can ruin your sleep and peace of mind.
I have a dog and do lots of outdoor activities (snowboarding, biking, camping, etc.). Therefore, the backyard, storage space, and parking were all essential to my lifestyle. Having 2 bedrooms with my girlfriend was awesome because we slept together in one room and then had separate closets and an office/guestroom we could both use.
Other pros: close to Darkhorse! Great view of the Flatirons.
