Residences at Saltillo review

This APT is very good for someone who wants to be close to east side bars and downtown but have a bit more space than living in downtown. It is walking distance from the east side bar scene and .5 miles from Dirty 6th and 1-1.5 miles from West 6th. Campus is around 2 miles away and for me is a 10 minute drive or 15 minute bike. The lady bird lake trail is .75 miles away.

I currently have ~800 SqFt 1 bedroom that is plenty spacious for one person and all their stuff. The apartment is fairly new and feels modern/luxury. It has 2 gyms and 2 pools across 4 building in the complex. It also is right next to a Whole Foods and a Target which is incredibly convenient for shopping and errands. Also the apartment is large enough to have small groups of people over.

Some cons is that it is a large corporate landlord style apartment. The management team is decent and responsive to requests but does not view you as anything other than a generic tenant. No real sense of community in the building but may that is a me thing. There small issues such as dirty stairwells, occasional broken elevators and some bugs like crickets and roaches but honestly most things are addressed fairly quickly by maintenance and management.

Highly recommend if you want to be close to the action and plan on going out on the town 2-3 times a week (a normal amount for a full time MBA).

Residences at Saltillo

Solid apartment, I wish it had taller ceilings and natural light but it is overall very nice. Management is responsive and the gyms on site are very nice for apartment gyms. Only compliant would be the increased homeless during covid

Meh

The saltillo apartments have a great location, close enought to 6th st that you can walk, but also far enough away that you can relatively easily find parking, but that's where the value starts and ends. The apartment has had multiple problems with bikes getting stolen from what are supposed to be secure areas. In one instance, a homeless individual entered the apartment complex (security codes to enter weren't exactly hard to guess), entered an apartment that was unlocked, was removed by police, and then within about 30 minutes did the same thing. There's no effective security here, management has effectively put the burden on consumers, telling us to make sure we have insurance for these incidents. Avoid this area if at all possible.
