Great Location

I've loved living at Columbia Plaza. The proximity to the law school is great (8-10min walk), and the maintenance is very responsive to all issues. The only major issue I've had is I've seen several small cockroaches in my apartment, but they have an exterminator that sprayed around my apartment, and I haven't had an issue with them since. Utilities included is very nice (internet isn't included), and if you plan to live in one place for all three years of law school the rent usually only goes up $20-$30 per month each year based on what my lease says about previous years.

Good but dust

I like that the building is generally quiet but the person above me is unreasonably loud at night and I've told mgmt and they've done nothing. Also a lot of dust comes out of the vents, so I won't be living here next year, but I probably would if it weren't for the dust.

Columbia Plaza

This is a really great apartment complex set in a great location. It has a convenience store, coffee shop, Chinese restaurant, and nail salon in the plaza below which is very handy. The maintenance staff is incredibly friendly and very prompt with addressing any repairs. A great size for a studio and many different layouts to choose from based on your interests and budget.

Great Location to Campus, if we were actually going

Our apartment is giant and management has always been helpful. No massive problems. Part of the reason I chose to live here was the proximity to campus, and if I had been able to plan for the pandemic, I probably would have chosen somewhere cheaper and further away. I really have liked this apartment but I think I would have liked it even more if it were cheaper.

Good apartment for the price

Decent apartments very close to campus. Not modern but still nice. Nice views if you’re on a higher floor. Management is usually very responsive if you have an issue. All utilities and gym included.

Great for law students

well-managed, 10 minute walk from the law school, spacious & very quiet. Only drawbacks are the prices & the lack of social activities in the neighborhood.

Large Apartment for the Area

I lived at Columbia Plaza for 3.5 years (first in a two-bedroom apartment in the Ambassador building with my law school roommate, and then in a one-bedroom apartment in the Baron building with my husband), and I just moved out a few months ago. I had my ups and downs with management (I had to really stay on them to have them fix one issue I was having), but overall, I had a very good experience living here.

In general, the apartments are MUCH larger than other apartments in the area. Some units have redone kitchens, which are very nice, but even those kitchens that haven't been redone are spacious with lots of cabinet space. Individual units do not have washers and dryers, but each building has a card-operated laundry room (add money to the laundry card, use the laundry card to pay).

The parking garage allows hourly parking, or you can pay for a designated spot (I didn't do this, but I think it costs around $200-$250 per month).

There is one front desk that is manned 24/7, and it is in the Consul building. So, if you have packages delivered, you will need to pick them up from that building (even if you live in a different building). The gym is also in the Consul building. It was newly redone while I was living there, and it is quite nice!

The plaza around which the apartment buildings are situated has a small market, restaurants, and a dry cleaner. It's also within walking distance (probably an average of 4-5 blocks) of more restaurants and Whole Foods, and it's only 8 blocks to the office!

Pretty nice apartment

This apartment is decent. I got one of the newly renovated ones though so I don't know what the older styles are like. I had brand new or like-new appliances.. The worst thing about this apartment is that management turns on the AC way too late into the spring so the apartments get SO SO SO hot and you can't do anything about it.

Good enough to live here all 3 years of law school

Other than some pests, which Management sprayed for within 24 hours of my notification, I like my apartment enough to live here all 3 years of law school. The walls themselves are thick where you don't hear your neighbors but you do hear some activity in the hallway. I have a huge walk in closet, lots of storage space, and it's big enough for a couch, bed, dining room table, and two rocking chairs to comfortably fit.

Lots of pretty row homes, walking distance to many restaurants, grocery stores, and my school. Lots of trees and a dog park near-by. Overall, very pretty and scenic to walk through, and also close to other neighborhoods and essential stores.
I like living in Foggy, it's easy to get to school but also is close to Georgetown, which is fun for food and shopping. The northern part of Foggy (near GW) is about 10 minute walk to Dupont too, which is great.
Short walk to Georgetown, West End, and Dupont Circle. Many restaurants nearby and close to metro so you can get to anywhere in the city conveniently.
Nice to be so close to school. Short walk from the mall and other tourist destinations. Bar/restaurant/night life scene leaves a lot to be desired.
It is really close to campus so a lot of GW folks live here! You can reach a lot of places on public transit.
Edge of Foggy Bottom bordering Georgetown - very safe and peaceful!
I personally enjoy the quietness of the neighborhood and its location within a close walking distance of campus, Georgetown, the water, and convenience/grocery stores. The neighborhood is also very safe, I am a woman in my early 20's and I have never felt unsafe walking home late at night near my apartment.
Foggy Bottom is a great place to live given the proximity to the law school. It's also within walking distance of Georgetown and Dupont Circle which are fun places to go out with friends and classmates. It's also has lots of bike racks for the Capital Bikeshare nearby, and the Foggy Bottom metro stop is a few blocks up the street.
