Avoid
I lived at 1000 N LaSalle St last year as a tenant. On the last day of my lease, before my lease was over, I had suitcases packed up in my empty apartment before moving out. Two PPM employees of this building entered my apartment without warning, while I was not there, and went through my packed suitcases. I came home to my things scattered everywhere with one employee still in my room. He claimed he thought I moved out due to my roommates keys in the office, but not mine. Another employee handed me a bag of my electronics that they took, including my laptop, AirPods, camera, and chargers.
As I packed everything back up, I realized cash was stolen. I spoke with Simona T., the building manager, who gave me the cash back as to not escalate things further. A few days later, when I moved out and unpacked everything, I realized more was missing. The building refused to compensate the rest of my stolen belongings.

100 West Chestnut Apartments Review
pretty good
A 15-20 minute walk from campus, but a lovely apartment complex!
Loved living there, it was a 15-20 minute walk to campus, and I often took the 66 bus to campus, which was a 10 minute bus ride that dropped me off right in front of the two buildings we usually had lectures in. It is also a 3-5 minute walk from the red line and brown line Chicago stops.
It’s Good
I love being a little further from campus but still walking distance. The gym, pool, and rooftop are great amenities, maintenance requests are always met promptly, and the staff are very friendly. I have had some difficulties with the billing department, as my rent checks are paid through a savings account. There have been multiple instances where they have INSISTED that a check had not been received and refused to double check, only for the payment to then be processed the following week.
Really like my building
We got two months free with our 12 month lease which was really nice. The building has a solid gym (nothing crazy though), ample laundry on the second floor, free printing, and a semi-private office space. There is a small roof area with a great view as well. It's about a 15-20 minute walk to campus and that hasn't been too bad in the winter. The walk is nice in the warmer months. My apartment itself is not the flashiest compared to the newer buildings in streeterville, but I think it's pretty spacious for the price, all the appliances work well and are updated, and no issues with the bathrooms or with pests. There's a good amount of natural light, but few sconces so you will need to buy lamps.
Good deal and close to campus
We live in a nice apartment in a good building about a 15 minute walk to campus. We got a good covid deal making the rent cheaper than what we listed and have found it to be more affordable than some of the buildings close to campus. The building has a gym, pool, hot tub, and business area as well as very responsive management and a person at the front desk 24/7. The biggest downside is that there is no in-unit laundry and there are some weird quirks (ie no oven fan, etc).
Excellent
Large building with very responsive maintenance crew and building manager. Never had an issue that wasn’t resolved within 48 hours.
Great Location, Lovely View, Long Commute
I've had a great experience living on the North Side. It would be nearly impossible to live here without a car but I commute everyday and my building has a parking garage. I love the lake view and my studio layout is very nice, with lots of storage space. The building is a little old (circa 1970) but the lobby and gym have been recently updated. It's mostly young people and I'd say everyone who lives there mostly keeps to themselves. The biggest advantage is the neighborhood. Lakeview is fantastic for access to Old Town, Lincoln Park, bars and restaurants, and the lake front. With COVID, I haven't taken full advantage of the location but I like knowing that there is some separation between where I live and where I do most of my work. That said, for a studio it is on the pricier side (certainly in comparison to Hyde Park or Kenwood) but it's actually good value for the neighborhood and management will negotiate if you press them on price.
Good location
I needed the space of a one bedroom and wanted to live close to the Chicago campus, so I landed on this spot.
Mixed Emotions
We've had many issues in our building, ranging from elevators being slow/shut down every other week. Leaking of the windows and ceiling. Plumbing issues in our apartment. All of which received slow responses from the Property Management Group.
However, the rooftop pool and laundry room are nice.
Love everything but elevators
Great location, staff, and residents. Biggest criticisms are the elevators. They are incredibly slow or frequently broken. Elevator #3's beeping makes me want to scream every day. Maintainence staff is friendly and responds promptly. Kitchens and bathrooms are also somewhat dated.
Great Apartment- Fantastic Area
I live in a Studio and it is a very gracious size and shape. The Gold Coast area is wonderful, there are many restaurants, shops, and grocery stores nearby. The pool and the gym are also fantastic extras. The building also has a fairly young crowd which makes it feel more fun to love there.
Good Overall apartment
The apartment is good, however non-central air and dated air conditioners makes the apartment rather hot. Doorstaff is present during the night time, but there is still a call box that is used and it seems like the doorstaff lets random people in. The deck space is an amazing amenity, and is extremely spacious.
Nice building big studio
I enjoy my studo apartment a lot, it is on the larger side. I'm pleased with the layout, I don't like having to see the kitchen/bathroom from the main room. The building is older, but fairly updated. I really enjoy the workout facilities and pool top.
