Clean, Hassle-free, Convenient Living

I really enjoyed my experiences living at Crystal Square Apartments. It is really convenient to get to the metro through the underground entrance and shops. The apartment I shared had a ton of space and I never had any maintenance related issues. The package pick up is really nice, and the people who live/work in the building were very friendly.

Great apartment, 25/30 minutes to campus via metro

The apartment is extremely spacious and reasonably priced for a 2 bedroom/2 bath apartment. There is an exit into the crystal city shops which is connected to the crystal city metro, so it only takes about 5 minutes to get from my apartment to the metro station. It is a 15/20 minute metro ride, and it takes about 10 minutes to walk from the metro to the school. All together it is about 30 minute commute, but for the price and the quality of the apartment it is definitely worth it.

Convenience in Crystal City

Crystal Square is a nice apartment building in Crystal City, VA (Arlington). It is really convenient - you can get to the metro, restaurants, and shops all without ever experiencing the outside elements. Not a luxury building, but it's nice. Many improvements made recently - upgrades to the pool and the communal grills. Downside - know that there is not central heat/AC no matter what they tell you.

Getting around Crystal City

Crystal City Reviews

Crystal City has been a convenient place to live because I work there. However, it is not the most accessible to AU. I leave work early, but I don't have enough time to metro there, so I have to take an Uber from work, but it's manageable because I only go to campus twice a week. Although that's a little inconvenient, the area is very safe for a woman living alone, and it's very easy to get to downtown DC. There are many restaurants and grocery stores nearby, as well as the Pentagon City mall, which is within walking distance. My only complaint is that there is a lot of construction.
Extremely safe and friendly neighborhood. I have gotten very involved in my local Catholic church that is right down the street. You can instantly tell the difference when you leave DC that your environment has changed. The people are friendly, you are not scared that you will get robbed, and there are no signs of blight. I would highly recommend the area.
Overall, Crystal City is a great place to live, and often overlooked when compared to Pentagon City. This is a pretty suburban area, with a mix of homes and apartment complexes. There are tons of restaurants nearby, and it's enjoyable since they're mostly walking distance. Added perk - Arlington Public Library tucked into the neighborhood between the main Crystal City area and surrounding Pentagon City area.
If you have a family it’s great, if your single it’s great also. Easy access to major highways and metro. Tons of activities and events through out the year. Safe environment to walk at night.
Generally a more commercial area, so it is pretty quiet at night. Crystal Drive is full of cool restaurants and bars.
There are always people walking around in the neighborhood. They are either working adults on their way to lunch, military, or families going to eat. Community staples like the library, public pool, and outdoor space are only about a 10 to 15 minute walk. There is a lot of public green space and the "long bridge" is a great place to walk. If you have an active pet there is plenty of access to trails and sidewalks to ensure that they get the amount of exercise they need.

If you can find roommates, it is affordable. Just make sure you have the self-control to not eat out everyday!
The neighborhood is very walkable and has very accessible public transportation. It's not somewhere you typically would go out at night since nightlife is nonexistent, but Amazon just moved in and there is semblance of that changing. It's great if you are active (many gyms, parks, and Mt. Vernon Trail Access), enjoy restaurants like Chick Fil A (one right outside my building), and want to be close to everything.
It is close to almost everything. Metro? Check. Mall? Check. Grocery store? Check. Place to eat and drink? you betcha. I feel safe walking around at night. The only draw back is that there is a fire station close by and you get to hear the wailing of the sirens. You get use to them though.
