Overall Decent For the Price

Good price for the amount of space each apartment has. Older building but they are in the process of updating common spaces. Range of apartment styles and upgrades which impacts the price. Location is great with multiple modes of transportation and blue/yellow line only 5-10 min walk away

Crystal Plaza Apartments

I lived here from summer 2016 to May 2022. I found that this was an excellent location and the management staff at Crystal Plaza were attentive, accessible, and did their part to create an inclusive living environment. My commute to Georgetown would take approximately 30 min on public transit as I would take the Art43 bus to rosslyn and then the GUTS bus across the key bridge. Place was spacious and amenities both within and around the community were plentiful. I paid $1621 but I didn’t re-sign as prices went up and I had bought a place in May 2022, but it was still a fair deal. Would recommend and it’s easy access to DCA, VRE, Amtrak, 395 and Metro

Really great find in a quite and easily accessible area of Arlington

I've been living in this apartment complex since 2016 and it was a great find. The staff is really personable and quick to help with any request you may have. The building is well kept and they are offering 1 month rent free currently with a waived amenity fee. I recently upgraded to a 1 BR (1000 sqft) and there are many units ranging from studios to 3 BRs to fit all needs.

The summer is great here since they have an awesome pool. Overall the amenities are what you'd expect from any building of this size. The location is decent, but there aren't many "Happy Hour" spots near by or places to go out at night. There are some good family owned restaurants nearby that are walkable, and there is a strip on Crystal Drive that has parks, and plenty of green space to enjoy. It's the perfect location if you value accessibility to places you want to go, but want to save on rent. I find myself ubering back from Georgetown after evening classes instead of using public transportation which will run about $10-$15 but it's an 8 minute drive.

In terms of getting into downtown DC, and other areas, here are some reference points.

Georgetown Main Campus (35 minutes - metro to GUTS Bus)

Old Town Alexandria (20 minute metro ride)

Rosslyn (20 minute metro ride)

Union Station (25 minute metro ride)

Reagan National (5 minutes)

Crystal Plaza - 5 star rating!

The overall living experience at Crystal Plaza has been good. The building's location is excellent with easy access to Reagan National, Metro, grocery stores and shopping malls and plenty of old and new restaurants. It has great community that I was able to make friends with a lot of other young professionals. Sometimes, you can hear a little bit of noise from the hallway and above your unit. Maintenance staff are really helpful and responsive to your requests, which is a plus. I'm glad that I live here. I would recommend this building to anyone.

Great place

Nice staff, spacious building and good locale in Arlington with easy access to the city, shops and restaurants. Staff is very courteous and attentive and remembers people's names which is helpful. I would recommend this place to newcomers to the area.

Apartment itself is great, but the management is horrible.

What they advertise to have are not included. So beware. I love the location, i always feel safe walking home from crystal city metro. Gym is free. However, maintenance is super slow and my roommate fixed it. Got a mailbox key after a month I moved in. Warning! They will take a full month of rent regardless of your move-in date. As long as you don't deal with Cassa Housing, you should be fine. (They take advantage of you when they can.) By the way, don't get tempted by fully furnished housing. Not true. Other than than it's alright!

Needs better maintenance

Things are always breaking but it is a safe clean environment. Love the outdoor space and wish it was warm year round to enjoy it. Love the coffee maker. Noise level is minimum and residents are very kind and professional - even the student residents.

Great location

Crystal Plaza is in a great location! It is conveniently located to DC and it is also in a very safe neighborhood. The residents aren't very social with each other but they host lots of events throughout the month. The only downside is that we had a roach the other week. But management sent a terminator as soon as he was available.

Getting around Crystal City

Crystal City Reviews

41 reviews
Crystal City has been a convenient place to live because I work there. However, it is not the most accessible to AU. I leave work early, but I don't have enough time to metro there, so I have to take an Uber from work, but it's manageable because I only go to campus twice a week. Although that's a little inconvenient, the area is very safe for a woman living alone, and it's very easy to get to downtown DC. There are many restaurants and grocery stores nearby, as well as the Pentagon City mall, which is within walking distance. My only complaint is that there is a lot of construction.
Extremely safe and friendly neighborhood. I have gotten very involved in my local Catholic church that is right down the street. You can instantly tell the difference when you leave DC that your environment has changed. The people are friendly, you are not scared that you will get robbed, and there are no signs of blight. I would highly recommend the area.
Overall, Crystal City is a great place to live, and often overlooked when compared to Pentagon City. This is a pretty suburban area, with a mix of homes and apartment complexes. There are tons of restaurants nearby, and it's enjoyable since they're mostly walking distance. Added perk - Arlington Public Library tucked into the neighborhood between the main Crystal City area and surrounding Pentagon City area.
If you have a family it’s great, if your single it’s great also. Easy access to major highways and metro. Tons of activities and events through out the year. Safe environment to walk at night.
Generally a more commercial area, so it is pretty quiet at night. Crystal Drive is full of cool restaurants and bars.
There are always people walking around in the neighborhood. They are either working adults on their way to lunch, military, or families going to eat. Community staples like the library, public pool, and outdoor space are only about a 10 to 15 minute walk. There is a lot of public green space and the "long bridge" is a great place to walk. If you have an active pet there is plenty of access to trails and sidewalks to ensure that they get the amount of exercise they need.

If you can find roommates, it is affordable. Just make sure you have the self-control to not eat out everyday!
The neighborhood is very walkable and has very accessible public transportation. It's not somewhere you typically would go out at night since nightlife is nonexistent, but Amazon just moved in and there is semblance of that changing. It's great if you are active (many gyms, parks, and Mt. Vernon Trail Access), enjoy restaurants like Chick Fil A (one right outside my building), and want to be close to everything.
It is close to almost everything. Metro? Check. Mall? Check. Grocery store? Check. Place to eat and drink? you betcha. I feel safe walking around at night. The only draw back is that there is a fire station close by and you get to hear the wailing of the sirens. You get use to them though.
