Expensive, but has many benefits

Innova has a very convenient location and has many helpful amenities, like dog walking, package delivery, security, etc. The staff are incredibly nice and maintenance is extremely prompt. Having restaurants in the building is also very convenient when you're too tired to cook or it's snowing outside. Downsides are that the floorplans aren't very big and storage is limited.

Innova - studio

Apartment itself is very nice. It is very convenient since it's so close to the school.
It is costly to live alone. It would be great to get a roommate and split the rent.

Innova

Amazing and convenient. Tons of water issues in phase 2 (new side) so try and get an apartment on phase 1 side.

Good place to live for dental students

My monthly rent is very low because I made a contract in 2018. The rent will go up after this Thanksgiving. Now I think it is about $1500 for studio. Other than the price, Innova is very close to both dental school and dental clinic. So, you can have lunch at home. Once you become a D3 or D4, you have to spend extra time for your lab work. Due to the proximity, you can go to the clinic whenever you want/need without waiting for the bus (This is a huge pro!!) Also, the facility is very clean, nice, new. There is a 24-hr concierge service. The staffs are very nice and easy to approach.

Convenience

No major issues (water and electricity were out once but resolved relatively quickly). Very convenient to the HEC and dental clinic, although a bit pricy.

Pricey but could be worth it

This place is very pricey but you do get what you paid for. Comes with concierge service that walks your dogs and feeds your fish when you're out of town. Also, little things they do like carrying your delivered groceries up to your apartment actually saves a lot of time. If you're in the South side you can get an amazing view of the new med school campus and all the green space.

Innova Living

Innova is a great place to live, especially once the HEC opens. The HEC is literally about a 2 minute walk from the front door of Innova because it is across the street. Though Innova is expensive, I like using the gym in the apartment building and there is a 24/7 concierge that can help you with things like walking your dog and getting your dry cleaning done. There is also a grocery delivery service (PrestoFresh) that delivers for free to Innova so you don't have to go grocery shopping. The building is also very secure with multiple locked doors between the entrance and my apartment.

Getting around Hough

Hough Reviews

88 reviews
This neighborhood is fairly close to many restaurants and very close to the medical campus; however, it is also not a very safe area and I would not feel comfortable walking alone in this area at night.
Below average around campus. Not easily walking distance to grocery store. Would benefit from car in that regard. 10 minute walk to some restaurants and CWRU HEC and pharmacy (that I don't recommend sending scripts to). Near Cleveland clinic. If you're looking for the college feel of being able to walk everywhere, Hough isn't really that vibe. Parts of Hough are fine, others are struggling with many abandoned buildings. Edges of neighborhood are being gentrified so it's a weird dynamic of foreclosed homes and mansions on the same block. Doesn't receive as much Cleveland money is it should. For example streets are in rough shape. But has some nice parks and right next to the university circle amenities/parks/museums.
The neighborhood does not feel safe to walk around at night, but it is very close to campus so it is a tradeoff.
Just on the end of sketyness. Where the apartment is is good, but anymore north is not. Close to Maltz Performing art studio which always has a CASE police vehicle at which is nice.
The surrounding neighborhood is not ideal, but I have never felt unsafe as a resident. If you travel in the right directions, there should not be a problem. I run outside by myself during the day and have always felt perfectly safe. There have been a very small number of incidents outside of the complex at night, but the building is secure and if you avoid walking outside alone at night then it shouldn't be a concern. I would qualify the HEC/Cleveland Clinic campus/University Circle more as my "neighborhood" than Hough itself since that is where I spend most of my time.
Very close to the school and clinic. Other than that there isn’t too much to do- it’s mostly the medical buildings. There are a few places to eat and CWRU main campus is within walking distance. The grocery stores that I like in Cleveland (Trader Joe’s and Giant Eagle) are a bit of a drive ~25 minutes. The closest target and Walmart and also a ~15 minute drive.
There's not a lot to do in the immediate vicinity, however there are a couple of restaurants (Penn Station, Fluffy Duck, Urban Kitchen) and a pharmacy on the first floor. There's more space for other shops/restaurants to open in the future. Plus, there's a Rite Aid right across the street, and the convenient walk to both UH and CCF are great!
Most residents here are docs or pre-docs. Very polite and respectful to each other.
