Innova Living

Pros:
*Apt/people: Great clean nice spacious modern apartment. Beautiful spacious kitchens, new appliances. Friendly full time concierges if you need really anything at any time, 24/7 coffee, free Friday happy hours. Quiet residents, many are medical professionals and med/dental students. Your own washer/drier unit.
*Area/Safety: Increasingly safe area, very secure with 24/7 concierge at the door. Shortest walk to HEC and clinic ~ 5 min!!! Super great to be able to break up the 8 hour days and go home for 50 minutes over lunches. Beautiful view of the HEC and church, love the grass. Urban kitchen and fluffy duck cafe are below, which are great places to eat. I love how it’s a go to central spot to host your friends, with other housing options around it in all directions, and nearest to the HEC.
*Concierges helping with pets/plants: Free dog walking services, water plants, feed your cat. Very helpful if you’re out of town or can’t come back to let your dog out in the middle of the day. Just text or call the concierge and give them a schedule.
*Amenities: big gym, open 24/7. Large recreational room with a big kitchen, pool table, ping pong, couches, tables, tv’s for hosting up to ~50 people. Outdoor roof top space with grill and electric fire places are lovely in the summer for gatherings or studying. Free apt maintenance if anything breaks or needs repair.

Cons:
*Many ambulances that are loud on Chester through the day/night.
*In the winter the building heat is set high, with my room staying around ~75-80˚F and they don’t offer AC above 50˚F outside. So to cool off my apt I have to open a screened window; this has been very problematic for sleeping.
*No dedicated private study rooms. Just the large recreational room, which is still very often quiet.
*The gym doesn't have squat racks or bench presses.
*The washer and drier are pretty small, and the drier takes about 2-3 hours to actually dry things.
*Rent is one of the highest in the area.
*Frequent top management changes, though it doesn’t affect me and I don’t notice since the staff you see regularly stay.

Good location and property

Walkable distance to school so good for those don't have a car. The property is moderately and have good security. The also have a spacious gym and a rooftop where a lot of dental student event happen. You can also get a amazing HEC campus view from your bed.

The best!

The process of getting an apartment was so easy and it’s so convenient that the property is located across the street. Although the rent seems pricey, you’ll be paying about the same anywhere else because you’ll have to get a gym membership, buy case westerns parking pass, gas money, etc.

Good location

Location is great but rent is extremely overpriced for what you get. Walls and floors are thin and can hear through them depending on where you live.

expensive but convenient and comfortable

Utilities and parking aren't included, so I am paying around $1800 total per month for a studio. It is more on the expensive side, but it is just across the street from HEC. The location is very important to me since I spend a lot of time at school. The apartments are also very nice and management is quick to respond to any problems.

Good housing if budget allows.

Good location and services. The building itself is a bit old but is well maintained. Recommended!

Most convenient and comfortable spot nearby!!

It has been amazing living here so far. Management has greatly improved and is always there when I need their help. Amenities are also great with a nice gym, sky deck and lounge upstairs. The only complaint I have is that the Air conditioning struggles to get low (into the high 60s) during the summer due to being an “energy-efficient” building, and completely turns off during the winter! This means I have to leave my windows open if my apartment is too warm (which it is often for my liking).

Innova

Innova is a great convenient spot next to school, which is the main reason my roommate and I live here. The rent is pretty expensive compared to other living situations but it is safe and well maintained. I think having a roommate makes the rent more tolerable, but if you don't mind a commute I would look elsewhere. The new management is much better than the last company and definitely makes and effort for events and free food.

Getting around Hough

Hough Reviews

88 reviews
This neighborhood is fairly close to many restaurants and very close to the medical campus; however, it is also not a very safe area and I would not feel comfortable walking alone in this area at night.
Below average around campus. Not easily walking distance to grocery store. Would benefit from car in that regard. 10 minute walk to some restaurants and CWRU HEC and pharmacy (that I don't recommend sending scripts to). Near Cleveland clinic. If you're looking for the college feel of being able to walk everywhere, Hough isn't really that vibe. Parts of Hough are fine, others are struggling with many abandoned buildings. Edges of neighborhood are being gentrified so it's a weird dynamic of foreclosed homes and mansions on the same block. Doesn't receive as much Cleveland money is it should. For example streets are in rough shape. But has some nice parks and right next to the university circle amenities/parks/museums.
The neighborhood does not feel safe to walk around at night, but it is very close to campus so it is a tradeoff.
Just on the end of sketyness. Where the apartment is is good, but anymore north is not. Close to Maltz Performing art studio which always has a CASE police vehicle at which is nice.
The surrounding neighborhood is not ideal, but I have never felt unsafe as a resident. If you travel in the right directions, there should not be a problem. I run outside by myself during the day and have always felt perfectly safe. There have been a very small number of incidents outside of the complex at night, but the building is secure and if you avoid walking outside alone at night then it shouldn't be a concern. I would qualify the HEC/Cleveland Clinic campus/University Circle more as my "neighborhood" than Hough itself since that is where I spend most of my time.
Very close to the school and clinic. Other than that there isn’t too much to do- it’s mostly the medical buildings. There are a few places to eat and CWRU main campus is within walking distance. The grocery stores that I like in Cleveland (Trader Joe’s and Giant Eagle) are a bit of a drive ~25 minutes. The closest target and Walmart and also a ~15 minute drive.
There's not a lot to do in the immediate vicinity, however there are a couple of restaurants (Penn Station, Fluffy Duck, Urban Kitchen) and a pharmacy on the first floor. There's more space for other shops/restaurants to open in the future. Plus, there's a Rite Aid right across the street, and the convenient walk to both UH and CCF are great!
Most residents here are docs or pre-docs. Very polite and respectful to each other.
