Decent living space for afforable price

I've lived in this studio all throughout med school. Building does has 1-2 bedroom units as well. Management and maintenance are responsive and friendly although there can be pest issues if you don't keep your place clean. Maintenance does provide traps if needed. Great location in West Philly with an affordable price. Across the street from Penn Police so I feel relatively safe. Close to grocery store and other University City restaurants/shops on the edge of campus limits; 15min walk to the med school. Close to all forms of public transit including bus and subway. Few amenities included and no truly secure package area. I usually have packages sent to rental office which is a 2min walk from apartment building.

Decent place in good location and price

I've been here for a year and a half and overall like the place. The management company is fairly responsive. We did have a rodent problem for a month, but it seems to have been resolved. The rent is cheap and the location is very good (near trolleys and MFL and buses). It's not a place to write home about, but it gets the job done. It is on a loud street #philly #cityliving

Good place, good price

It's a nice simple apartment. Elevator. Two door entrance with packages out in the lobby.

Loud noise from Chestnut street, even at night. That's really the only downside. The apartment's floors are creaky, but that's not usually an issue.

Gas stoves. Utilities are super cheap here given that gas is included.

Two blocks from MFL line. 21 bus into center city is right outside the door. Short walk to Wharton campus.

Good Value

2 blocks from Septa, right next to a major bus line (21), two blocks from Acme grocery store, 8 blocks from Aldi grocery, prob the same or less for Supremo grocery. Good value. My only complaint is the noise from Chestnut.

Good location, okay apartment, frustrating management

Pros
-good food nearby
-close to SEPTA station
-utilities included
- gas stove

Cons
-heat has broken multiple times during the winter, and did not turn on until mid-November (though it was cold before that)
-management slow to fix things
-ceiling leaking in bathroom from the apartment above
-apartment not super clean when we moved in
- twice the mailboxes were broken and anyone could access anyone's mail
-packages are delivered to lobby and sometimes go missing.
- bugs (though not cockroaches) when it was warmer

Dangerous. Awful management.

A few anecdotes:
-When I first moved in, my apartment had a gas leak and the leasing office agent rudely dismissed it as not an emergency. Fortunately the repairman for my building passed by and overheard our conversation, and offered to come fix it right away.
-I also emailed about other move-in questions (where the dumpster was located, etc), had to email a few times before they responded, and the answers were cursory and completely unhelpful.
-My fire alarm was broken for 2 months before it was fixed.
-I've had three packages stolen and management hasn't acted on my complaints at all.
-The free shuttle that they advertise is notoriously unreliable (service often stops without explanation) and slow. The leasing office flat out denies that service has stopped and generally does nothing about it.
-The actual quality of the apartments is horrible--the building materials are all super cheap. Also, the street can feel unsafe at night, and the area can get very loud sometimes (cars drag racing on the street, music blaring from the street over).
Stay away! Management is a disaster--the people in the leasing office have a truly terrible attitude and dealing with them is such a headache that I'd often rather live with the maintenance issues that come up rather than try to persuade them to fix the problem.
