Great value for Wharton students; Terrific management

If you want to live in a high rise building, but not at Rittenhouse Square prices, 2400 Chestnut is the right choice.

Included: Gym, cable, shuttle to and from Wharton/Penn Med/Law, weekend shuttle for shopping.

The management and front desk staff are extremely friendly, accommodating, and helpful. I'll miss living here after I graduate.

A good value, but needs upgrading to compete with new complexes

I've been in 2400 chestnut for four years. I like the apartment; it has served me well. When I moved in, it was the only high-rise apartment in the immediate area. It's a good location, especially if you'd like to walk to campus, but it's a bit far from Rittenhouse (relatively). Over the years, other apartment buildings have risen and are significantly nicer than 2400 Chestnut. My studio has no central air, carpet, and older facilities. The gym is ok and has everything one might need, but the equipment is seriously out of date. If I was moving into the area next year, I would consider 2400 Chestnut a last resort compared to other, newer apartments in the area.

Highly recommended!

I've lived in 2400 Chestnut since the start of the school year, and picking this place was a GREAT decision! It's a 20 min walk to school, and other shared spaces that Wharton leases in Center City (such as 2401 Walnut and Pub) are a short 5-min walk away. Admittedly, it isn't as plush as some of the newer high-rises in Center City, but it offers tremendous value for money. Another HUGE plus is the fabulous view of the river! The building management has been extremely helpful in every respect, and I've had no trouble since I've moved in.

2400 Chestnut

Great value - decently quality interiors, lots of storage space, a nice gym and a shuttle to Penn campus (several stops along Walnut) all make for great benefits at a very reasonable price.

Great Apartment

I think the best part is the management company - they are very responsive and fix any issues very quickly. All the staff are super nice. I face the river so I also have great sunlight. I think I get great value for the rent I pay. I feel somewhat mixed about the location because while it is very easy to get to the Penn campus, I am a bit far from Rittenhouse where a lot of people and restaurants are. But as a Wharton student, our building is next door to 2401, which is extremely convenient. There are also a lot of mini-perks like a free shuttle that runs to campus every morning and I do like our gym (it is not amazing but has all the key equipment).

Great building if you pick right unit

This building has a few different units and layouts. If you do the research and communicate with management, you can find a unit with great lighting, hardwood floors (most units are carpeted), and generally very clean and equipped with new appliances. The location is perfect for walking to class and also walking to parties. Shuttle service in the morning to campus is also a lifesaver. Doormen are very nice, and maintanence is responsive. Highly recommended!

No frills living option

2400 Chestnut is the first building you'll see when you cross the river. The proximity to Huntsman is an advantage when you wanna quickly get to school or get back. Its close to 2401 and the pub, which means you have most of the Wharton life covered. The apartment provides shuttle service in the morning, which a lot of Wharton students take advantage of.

The apartment doesnt have plush louges or common rooms, and is a no frills option. Recommended if you want an affordable living option without a lot of amneties (such as pool)

Basic apartment with great location and free cable/laundry

Basic apartment - think cream and pink colors, carpeting that doesn't lay right with the wall, etc. Rent is starting to be too much for what I get (though admittedly better than other close by complexes), but I love the location so much. Free cable and free laundry on every floor don't hurt. Recently replaced windows help with the efficiency of my electric heat/ a.c units but blinds let a lot of light in during the day if you work night shifts.

Great space for students

I've lived 2400 Chestnut for a year. My experience so far was wonderful. I am sharing 2 bedroom / 2 bathroom with my roommate. A view from the apartment is really gorgeous. Staffs are all friendly and nice. This building is located near the campus. It takes only 15min to walk to the school from the apartment. They also have a shuttle to the university city area in the morning and in the evening. Maintenance is pretty good and quick. Although it is more expensive than the apartment in university city, it is worthy! Overall, 2400 Chestnut will be a good choice for your housing.

Fitler Square is really cute and homey. It's around a lot of other medical students, so it's a good social area and has an easy commute to school. It's also great if you like running because it's right off the trail on the river. Food is good but a bit homogenous (compared to West Philly especially.
Locust and spruce feel a lot safer than market or chestnut at night. Very residential streets with beautiful brownstones. Also close to dog park and the river walkway. About 10min walk from the popular buildings and 25min walk to huntsman
good place for people new to the city! close to both Penn and a lot of stuff downtown. I never lived in Philly beforehand, and definitely recommend this location
Love the neighborhood! If you're interested in being close to the center of the city and being able to actively explore Philly (for a not extreme price) it was great! Also was easy to get to my school - University of Pennsylvania. 15-20 mins to get to school by transit; 30 mins walking.

That being said I did notice that most students lived on the side of the school!
The beautiful tree-filled neighborhood is full of families, dogs, and students - it is safe, full of great restaurants, and boasts an equally quick walk to both University City and downtown attractions. The immediate access to the Schuylkill River Trail also can't be beat. While we lack apartment amenities, we love living in a historical brownstone that has charm and character. This is an area where you can live as a student and stay for another 20 years after that.
Great neighborhood, though expensive for Philly. If you're a Penn grad student who wants to be near campus but not on campus, it's ideal for distance from school and the Rittenhouse area. Lots of parks and residents are friendly.
There are residents without housing in the neighborhood. They're good people and new residents should be respectful of them and their belongings.
The neighborhood is very residential. Not a ton of bars/restaurants which can be annoying if you just want to pick up food after a busy day, but it's right near the park and Skukyhill river trail which is great for exercising and getting outdoors. Close to Trader Joe's and South Street market which is convenient
Center City is a fantastic area. I live on the northern side of it, which is the more financial/industrial/apartment building side. I live 2 blocks from a busy Trader Joe's and inches away from tons of great restaurants, corner stores, and shops. It's close to Rittenhouse Square, a swanky square block with a tiny park in the middle, as well as the Schuylkill River trail (great for running and biking) and the Art Museum area. Multiple major bus lines slice through this neighborhood, making it quite easy to get anywhere when you don't want to walk or bike.
