Great location, old building

The location of Lakeshore Plaza is great. Everything else about the building is pretty subpar. The building is very old, management is ignorant, the amenities are not well maintained. In addition, there is a building being built next door which causes a lot of noise disturbances. The doormens are great though!

Old and outdated building

Very old and outdated building. Amenities are not well maintained and most of the time unavailable. Management is a pain, non responsive and neglect. This building is not worth the price! Location however is great. Next to the lake, Navy Pier, City Centre

Management and Amenities are Terrible

Management claims it isn't their fault the elevators are always broken. They also believe it's perfectly acceptable to plan construction and not tell anyone until after the lease is signed. The construction closed the pool and deck half the summer last year and this year.

Good for student housing

Lake Shore Plaza is, overall, a pretty nice place to live in downtown Chicago. The major selling feature of this property is its price for the location and size of the unit, which is why I chose to live here after apartment hunting last year. I currently live in a one bedroom apartment with my fiancé and our two pets for about $300-500 less per month than the other properties in the area. I was disappointed to learn that the building permits smoking indoors. I also feel that you sacrifice many of the nice amenities offered by nearby buildings, which was a sacrifice I was willing to make for the cost.

Perfect location for Feinberg, almost feels like a small slice of a college town because so many of your neighbors will be students, residents, nurses, etc at the hospital. You do get sirens fairly often depending on where you live since the emergency room is very close. The neighborhood doesn't have too many restaurants/bars but it is walking distance to River North and Gold Coast and the rest of the city is easily accessed by public transport. Much safer than most neighborhoods in Chicago.
Streeterville is a very nice neighborhood. There are plenty of parks and grocery stores. There is some late night crime due to the location downtown and close to the beach, but overall nothing worse than anywhere else.

There are some more expensive restaurants and fast food places. Navy Pier attracts a lot of tourists and they can be annoying to navigate around.
I enjoy living in Streeterville since it's near many of Chicago attractions without feeling overwhelming like in the Loop. I am able to walk around safely at night and I like going jogging in Millennium Park. My biggest complaint would be the lack of greenery in the area and how the city can feel a little bit insulating at times. Public transportation is great. This area is pricey, which is why I decided to have a roommate.
The Streeterville area was still pretty sleepy when I moved here three years ago. Since then, there has been an incredible amount of development. New luxury apartments and condos are going up, several new restaurants, a brand new target and Whole Foods. Its become a great place for professionals who enjoy living downtown, but without the club crowds in River North.
There are a few buses that are near by that help get residents down to the loop. Also it's pretty easy to walk around and the cross walks are pedestrian friendly. I'm always able to get around by foot and buses/trains. Streeterville is a very safe neighborhood and I've never felt unsafe walking around at night. The streets are well lit.
Noise is not usually too big of an issue in this neighborhood; it's pretty quiet at night.
There are multiple grocery stores nearby for multiple choices. Also there are a bunch of great places to eat so one will not get bored with options.
While on the expensive end in Chicago, streeterville is safe, has all the necessities (look for apts near grocery stores if you don't have a car!!), is super close to school (and most feinberg students so convenient for socializing), and is super close proximity to restaurants and bars.
This building is located in the center of everything you could possibly need. Whole foods and Jewel within walking distance, easy to get to the lake front, and plenty of good restaurants and bars. The only down side is that it does not really have a "neighborhoody" feel.
Love how close we are to the medical school, makes going to class really easy. A lot of students live in Streeterville so it is very easy to hangout with friends. There are also a few coffee shops in the neighborhood that are very fun to study at!
