Convenient and Amazing Management

The building is a 5-10 minute walk from campus. Management is prompt and wonderful, and the building is quiet although there are several med students living here if you'd like to be social!

Unit rental (from owner)

The building is all owned condominiums, a subset of which are allowed to be rented out by owners. Unless you want to buy, you’ll need to find someone looking to rent their unit. Building is a mix of older folks, families and some young professionals. Quiet, respectful atmosphere. Great gym + pool & jacuzzi facilities + two sundecks & workroom on top floor. Laundry 2nd floor for building has more than enough units ($1.75 / load). 24hr doorperson. Responsive maintenance staff. Overall great building.

awesome place to live

I think this is truly one of the best buildings in Streeterville. There's a mail room, pool, gym, and work room on the top floor. There is also a rooftop deck with incredible views of the lake. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Some units also have in-unit washers and dryers and parking spots. More affordable than other buildings around here. There is almost nothing I would change about living here.

401

Great apartment, staff, and amenities. Well maintained and safe. Only complaint is that it has an older population— very sensitive to noise complaints

Dependable quiet building, no complaints!

I have loved my time at 401 E Ontario! It's a condo building, so the population leans older/families. The walls are pretty thick so I almost never hear my neighbors. The facilities are kept clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. I've never had any issues accessing the gym or rooftops. It might not be the most decked-out amenity-filled building, but it has more than enough for me. And the proximity to school is unbeatable. Also my unit came with a storage unit in the basement! Can't beat that.

Fees are absurd, overall nice building

It's not a bad building overall, but the fees can be extremely high (500+ for a minor infraction). Elevators are fast, washers and dryers work well, gym is adequate with amazing view on top floor. AC/Heat switch is variable, sometimes it is done on time, other times you'll be sweating. Note that despite being full of older people it can be loud at times. Just watch out for the fees.

Awesome spot!

Amazing location, yet not crowded with the River North traffic. 401 E. Ontario boasts a gym, 2 tanning decks (open for 1/2 the year) an indoor pool and a hot tub.
24 hour security, dry cleaning in building. Close to hospital so many people in building are nurses/doctors.

Great place to live

The building is nice and well-kept, I would recommend it to anybody. The management company is professional and courteous. The staff members are very nice. The amenities are great as well, having a dry-cleaners in the building is very convenient.

Perfect location for Feinberg, almost feels like a small slice of a college town because so many of your neighbors will be students, residents, nurses, etc at the hospital. You do get sirens fairly often depending on where you live since the emergency room is very close. The neighborhood doesn't have too many restaurants/bars but it is walking distance to River North and Gold Coast and the rest of the city is easily accessed by public transport. Much safer than most neighborhoods in Chicago.
Streeterville is a very nice neighborhood. There are plenty of parks and grocery stores. There is some late night crime due to the location downtown and close to the beach, but overall nothing worse than anywhere else.

There are some more expensive restaurants and fast food places. Navy Pier attracts a lot of tourists and they can be annoying to navigate around.
I enjoy living in Streeterville since it's near many of Chicago attractions without feeling overwhelming like in the Loop. I am able to walk around safely at night and I like going jogging in Millennium Park. My biggest complaint would be the lack of greenery in the area and how the city can feel a little bit insulating at times. Public transportation is great. This area is pricey, which is why I decided to have a roommate.
The Streeterville area was still pretty sleepy when I moved here three years ago. Since then, there has been an incredible amount of development. New luxury apartments and condos are going up, several new restaurants, a brand new target and Whole Foods. Its become a great place for professionals who enjoy living downtown, but without the club crowds in River North.
There are a few buses that are near by that help get residents down to the loop. Also it's pretty easy to walk around and the cross walks are pedestrian friendly. I'm always able to get around by foot and buses/trains. Streeterville is a very safe neighborhood and I've never felt unsafe walking around at night. The streets are well lit.
Noise is not usually too big of an issue in this neighborhood; it's pretty quiet at night.
There are multiple grocery stores nearby for multiple choices. Also there are a bunch of great places to eat so one will not get bored with options.
While on the expensive end in Chicago, streeterville is safe, has all the necessities (look for apts near grocery stores if you don't have a car!!), is super close to school (and most feinberg students so convenient for socializing), and is super close proximity to restaurants and bars.
This building is located in the center of everything you could possibly need. Whole foods and Jewel within walking distance, easy to get to the lake front, and plenty of good restaurants and bars. The only down side is that it does not really have a "neighborhoody" feel.
Love how close we are to the medical school, makes going to class really easy. A lot of students live in Streeterville so it is very easy to hangout with friends. There are also a few coffee shops in the neighborhood that are very fun to study at!
