Mason at Alameda is... fine
The actual place is fine but the management/staff can be REALLY annoying to deal with. The security isn't great either. Location is good.

Meh
All apartments have good and bad! My advice is to document everything; my roommate and I had an experience where they tried to steal like $300 from us. Our unit is decent and good for the price. Altogether (with all utilities and parking) I pay $1100-1200 and I have my own bedroom, bathroom, and a walk-in closet. A lot of things are broken frequently so the amenities are not as good in reality as they seem. For example, the pool was closed almost every other week all summer, there was a like in the gym or broken gym equipment, the printer has never worked, etc.
The train is also very loud at all times of day and night and there is a large population of people experiencing homelessness and/or doing drugs in the area so I personally never feel comfortable walking around or taking public transportation. Other than that the location is nice; ubers downtown are usually only $15 and I can get to DU in about 10 minutes.
The time when you rent an apartment has a huge impact on price. If you are apartment shopping in the late summer/early fall before classes start, that is when rent is highest. If you apartment shop in the late winter/early spring, rent prices will be cheaper. So if you can sublet or sign a short-term lease around when classes start and then move at a random time, you can usually find better prices.
