Really nice and convenient for SMU international students

The apartment itself has everything a new to U.S resident can ask for, besides furniture. But they offer a discount rate for furnishing companies. The location is great if you study at SMU since it has access to two different shuttles, one for free, that goes through campus. It is also close to a lot of convinient stores, and malls. So buying groceries does not require for you to have a car or pay for an Uber everytime. The complex also have great commodities, as swimpools, a lake dog park, gym, and a golf course. The rent is a little bit high compared of what you can get in other parts of the city but If you can afford it it is totally worth

Affordable, great amenities

At village bend the apts themselves are nothing special. But we do have a washer/dryer and 2 bathrooms for under 2000. We also have plenty of space for two people and a dog. The amenities at the village are unbelievable. Multiple pools, gym, park, and restaurants are all included.

Bend Review

Most of the apartments in the Bend are a little on the older side because most were built in the late 70s/80s and many do not have washer dryers with several others also not having connections. Overall though the apartments are nice and with the Entertainment District continuing to be expanded there are a lot of extra benefits to take advantage of.

Great place for students!

Very pleased with the villages. The amenities are great as well as the management and neighbors. My only complaint is that the windows allow noise to come in from the parking lot.

Overpriced

My rent was raised due to the new businesses and gym in the area. Despite the price, all of the appliances are old and the majority of the amenities are closed. There have been multiple power outages in the building that are not weather related. I’ve had issues with people not keeping their pets on leashes, leaving waste and trash outside my door and on my balcony, and noise. Management is rude. The area is difficult to navigate, which usually results in packages and food being delivered to the wrong address. They do not have a comprehensive map of the neighborhood and the building numbers and signs are small.

Getting around Vickery Meadow

Vickery Meadow Reviews

Vickery Meadow probably wouldn't have been our first choice because it can feel claustrophobic due to the density of apartments. However, our little corner has almost none of this feel. Holly Glen is tucked in a corner and backed by a forest. We're not comfortable with my wife walking alone apart from the SoPac (and then we try to shoot for times when it's busy). That said, we feel generally safe.
I honestly didn’t recognize this neighborhood name until I looked it up. Outside of the Village, the area doesn’t have much of an identity. Retail options nearby are nice and restaurants are good, but there isn’t much of a social scene. You’ll want to head down to lower Greenville, uptown, oak lawn, or deep ellum for bars and things to do. All of those are a short, cheap uber away so it isn’t a big deal.
While the Village feels like an escape from the city, Greenville ave. is right there, giving easy access to restaurants, grocery stores, and other kinds of shopping. Dallas proper is only about twenty minutes away by car, and DART is also nearby and easy to use. I have a 5-10 minute commute to campus most days, and if I didn't want to drive, the SMU express has several stops in the Village, making it easy to take (free!) public transportation.
I like the neighborhood. It is quiet and pedestrian friendly. It is great if you are a jogger or have a dog! There are sidewalks, a walking/running path, and a dog park across the street and accessible to anyone living in the Village.
I also like that there are three different grocery stores within a two-mile radius and many eateries off Greenville.
The entire Village property is beautiful and feels pretty safe; however, the surrounding areas are somewhat rundown and don't feel safe. I'm definitely glad that my complex is gated but would feel safer with more restricted access to the Village and apartment buildings.
Everyone in the neighborhood minds their business, and it is fairly quiet. This neighborhood is also a great place to meet up with friends since they have a number of bars and restaurants to choose from.
Easy to get around, shop, etc. Good grocery stores and gas stations nearby. Quick access to 75. Mostly chain restaurants but clean and high quality. Easy to get to SMU, North Park.
If your neighbors are students then it might be fine. If your neighbors are those who stay at home all the time and living on government subsidies, then it won't be pleasant.
