Poor Management/Facilities Run-Down

There is very little storage, especially in the kitchen. Closets are an ok size, but because there is so little storage elsewhere, they get full fast.

When I fist moved in, our air conditioning did not work for about two months. Once they finally got it working, it did not drain properly, causing a leak in my roommate's closet ceiling. This took another month to fully repair, meaning our A/C could not be used during that time. This entire ordeal happened between September and November - not exactly the coolest months of the year.

Generally, maintenance is just bad. They will mark work orders as complete when they didn't even come to the apartment (we know because there is a ring doorbell), and if they do come, they will just look at it, bang it with a hammer, and say its fixed. It took four months and multiple work orders to get a new dryer when ours made a horrible screeching sound due to metal rubbing on metal in the drum and it failing to dry until you did 3+ hours of drying.

The office has also tried levy "fines" for early move-in when we first moved in which is normal. However, they did not discuss that with us ahead of time, and actually did let us move in - only levying the fine several weeks after we moved in. The eventually removed it after we disputed it and they received an email from my roommate's lawyer.

Also, the building shakes every time a train goes by. Not sure what that says about the construction.

Student Living is not for everyone

This place was great for living during your undergraduate years. The rent was cheaper than most places, had great amenities and was on the bus route for campus. As a graduate student, the property has become too noisy and no one really follows covid restrictions unless they're in the club house. There's construction happening on both sides of the property that has become noisy and dirty. I'm looking for places outside of close campus to live. It may be worth to just pay more for peace and quite with fellow neighbors that respect others' privacy and lives.

Do Not live in a Scion owned Property

Management and the Corporate office of Scion is absolute trash. After being a resident for 5 years and never having any incidents they discriminated against my mental health and kicked me out bc I had a mood episode. They are also very racist and don’t care about their Black employees. For example they didn’t let their Black employees off work for a BLM protest but close the office for LSU football games. The managers are bullies and are not helpful. My roommates car got egged with 15,000 worth of damage. Cars get broken into. Do not move into ANY Scion owned student housing property.
