Do not rent here
Last summer (after I had left for the summer, thankfully) there was a police shootout with someone camping out in one of the apartments. Swat teams and armored vehicles were called in. While this was an isolated incident, there is often a general feeling of uneasiness with some of the other residents around the property.
The apartments themselves are not that bad but the management team is not responsive to service requests. I have had to wait long periods for maintenance such as fixing the shower and lights around the exterior of the apartment.
My neighbor was evicted last year and the apartment could not be rented for a while because the apartment was littered in animal feces. The apartment door was left open to “air it out” so I would constantly be walking by.
The property is relatively close to campus but that does not outweigh the cons.

Cheap Rent but You Get What You Pay For
I barely paid any rent, but that came with a (nonmonetary) cost. No in unit washer or dryer. Management was not very responsive. Very cramped apartment with low ceilings and small living space. The common area can support one couch comfortably, but two couches makes it even more cramped than usual. I believe the place went through 3 management changes in a year and a half.
But I paid half of what most of my friends paid in rent. So you'll have to determine what matters more to you: a decent price or a decent place.

Forest Village
The apartment itself is pretty nice. A little pricy. The maintenance requests sometimes take a while to complete.

Good Property for Masters Students
Forest Village was just bought by a new management company, and this company is serious about taking care of the property. They have replaced roofs and will be replacing all washers and dryers. They respond quickly and compassionately to maintenance requests. I would recommend this property. Plus they have a free shuttle that runs to campus everyday.

Forest Village Review
It’s fine. Really cheap, nothing spectacular.

Good Property for Masters Students
The management is very responsive and helpful. However, when we moved in, the apartment smelled like tobacco smoke, which was pretty hard on my wife, who was expecting. The management did try to work with us, but the issue seemed to becoming from the air conditioning, so it wasn't an issue that was going away.
There is also a decent shuttle service that goes to campus.
