Quiet and convenient, very pet friendly

I have lived here several years. Do not have a pet, but very pet friendly. No undergrads. Students, young professionals, families, older people. Excellent access to trails right behind the complex. Centrally located. Quick drive to MU. Near grocery store. Pool, tennis courts, small gym, laundry. Very quiet, which I love. Not for someone who wants to have people over late at night as you will likely get in trouble. Management is fairly easy to work with and maintenance is quick. You can pay for covered parking if you want. Price will probably be going up with renovations to entire complex. Decent snow removal, salting of sidewalks, and you are near main roads that are cleaned first. I have not used it, but there are a couple bus stops nearby. Very safe and well-lit. Occasional break-ins into unlocked cars, but I think that happens everywhere. There is a CPD officer that works closely with the complex.

Good Place to Live

Katy Place is a cozy apartment complex close to many amenities and the university, as well as the Katy Trails. It is a very nice complex, but the gym is tiny. On the bright side, maintenance is always quick to respond to a complaint.

Review of Katy Place Apartments

I've really enjoyed living at Katy Place this year. I think its a pretty affordable and well maintained property compared to other places I've lived in Columbia. My only big complaint is that unless you have your own washer and dryer you have to rent them for about $30 each month to have them in-unit, which feels like a scam. All of the apartments were renovated this year to include new bathrooms and kitchens with updated features and appliances. The residents are mostly young professionals and graduate students, so it's very quiet. Maintenance and the leasing office are quick to respond to issues. Depending on traffic it takes about 10 minutes to drive to campus, and there's always plenty of parking spaces open. The property is located within walking distance of the Katy Trail, the Grind Coffee House, Forum movie theater, and Schnucks grocery store. It's also pet friendly and each apartment has multiple storage closets and a storage unit located off the balcony. I think it's a safe area and have never had any issues with crime. The property has a pool, a tennis court, and a small workout area, but but everything has been closed due to Covid the entire time I've lived there.
