Lark BR

I like the Lark as a complex, the pool and amenities are great, and I like my apartment, but there are a lot of issues. The gate in the garage was broken and open for six months and the doors in the garage into the complex don’t lock, letting anyone in. The smoke detectors go off every time someone cooks. The elevators are broken a lot, and the stairwells smell absolutely horrendous, it’s obvious a lot of pets have used it as a bathroom. My fridge freezes over at least once a month even on the warmest setting. They are prompt about sending up maintenance but they keep telling us that if they don’t see the freeze they can’t do anything.

Not satisfied

Not very satisfied. You pay a lot with respect to living in a 4 bedroom apartment. Management sucks and do not respond quickly.

Nightmare since COVID

Since undergrads started coming into the complex due to COVID, we have had more issues with guns, drugs, and just immature vandalism for example breaking the elevator by ripping out the controls; One murder Believe to be over drugs; girl being followed by two guys with hubs and knocking on apt door for her to open. A week later I saw the same two guys close to my apt and didn’t realize it was them until Securety guard told me when called it in. A lots of parking lot accidents and hit and runs; you can smell the pot in the hallwaysAnd at the pool sites; not only weekends but during the week there is heavy partying Which you cannot study or have online classes to do to loudness; The pool areas are normally so packed with non-guest. Etc it wasn’t bad at first but ever since COVID freshman I believe have come into the apartment complexes and just messed it up with their first time being away from parents breaking exit signs setting off fire alarms in the middle of the night which closes down all the elevators yelling on balconies while they’re drunk to each other across the courtyards waking everybody up and no consideration. The complex is also run by students which explains a lot of the management issues and cleaning issues. The list goes on. Finish meant makes you sign a new lease for the next year within the first few months of your first lease in this continues after that to be pressured by emails constantly that they will give your apartment away underneath you if you don’t sign immediately that there were so many new freshmen due to this Covid issue that there’s a waiting list. Before it was Lark of BR, it was called Sterling apartments that’s when I first came in and it seemed better with old management the decline in worthiness of these apartments has gone down since COVID for sure. The only reason I’m still here is the closest to Lsu and hoping these freshmen move out keeping in mind I had to sign a lease ahead of time for the following year. Apartments around this area do not allow you to see the true apartment only a model apartment in which your apartment does not look like you sign a lease on pretense is that it will look like that’s model apartment this is a crazy way of showing things because I was so upset when I first signed and got within the facilities where the apartments are the hallways etc. the vents in the hallways bring in the regular air which is super hot during the summer and super cold during the winter. Hope this helps.

Gross mess major maintenance issues

To start with, the first floor smells like sewer gas more often than not. major building maintenance either never happens or takes a ridiculously long time (9+ months). The exterior doors are constantly broken. They’re electronic, so when they’re broken, they don’t unlock and have to be propped open with a rock. If you work grad student hours, you’ll find yourself locked out at 3am regularly. The air ducts attached to the dryer were so clogged, the dryer didn’t work and actually RUSTED. The building in general has a massive humidity issue. Elevators are always broken (and the building is 5 floor). pros? They allow pets, extremely close to LSU, covered parking.

Average, kinda sketch

Undergraduate vibes for sure. Great location 5 min drive from campus. Someone was murdered at the apartment in November 2020. Will not renew.
