Well maintained and convenient location

Great for convenience
Great place to live for ease of getting the medical school. Walls are thin and and building does not have many study places but is very convenient which makes it all worth it.

Excellent location but questionable upkeep
Can’t beat this location if you are a med student and will need to be close to scaife hall. However proceed with caution because maintenance/upkeep can be a disaster (once went one-two weeks without a functioning elevator and so was required to use stairs - not sure what was planned or used for tenants with physical disabilities(

Great location
Very conveniently located near most of the major hospitals on rotations and also the medical school. Next to many restaurants and sights in Oakland as well and only a bus ride away from other important locations throughout medical school and the city.

Satisfactory grad student housing
This apartment is only available for rent to Pitt graduate students, so it is a very quiet environment. I appreciate the proximity to the medical school and hospital buildings, but this also makes it hard to "escape" school/work life. There is a 24/7 phone number to call with any concerns or requests for repairs; all repairs I have made were addressed within a day. The in unit washer and dryer are also great features.

Location, Location, Location
Darragh is basically an apartment-style dorm for graduate students. It is far from luxurious. The appliances are usually old because they aren't replaced unless they break and cannot be fixed. But if you're lucky, you could get one with newer appliances. Most apartments have that hideous dorm-style carpet, but a few have non-carpet floors. It's truly only worth the price because of the location, which is right next to the medical school and several clinical rotation sites. I would say the only other true selling points are that all utilities are included, in-unit laundry, free maintenance, and two gyms within walking distance. The cost of the parking permit should be illegal, but they know we basically have no choice but to pay for it. It costs around $1200. There are two lots, one that's about a five-minute walk away and one that's right outside the apartment building. It takes at least two years to get off the waitlist for the latter.

Darragh Street Apartments Review
Darragh's greatest appeal is its proximity to Pitt Med's campus (it's a <5 min walk). However, the units are small and the walls are thin, and it is easy to hear roommates and neighbors. Parking is an additional fee (around $100/month), but all other utilities are included. My unit was not clean upon move-in, and maintenance is only somewhat responsive.
