Avalon at Arlington Square reviews and highlights
- brand new gym/clubhouse, pools, and reasonably price parking
- the facilities and location are good
- some of the units are older
Great location, so-so management
It's a good spot that is just outside of DC. The commute to campus isn't terrible but could be better. There is a gym in the complex and two pools. However, the pools are only open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Management team is iffy on getting in touch with unless you go into the physical office and stand in front of someone to help you.

Close to DC; Does Pretty Well
Avalon is a great community to live in. It's usually quiet. It's far enough from DC to not feel swallowed by the city, but close enough to get into DC when you need.
Several pools and a gym are as well. However, the pool is only open between Labor Day and Memorial Day. There are garages for parking, but sometimes the garage doors are broken. There has been a string of people breaking into vehicles since the garage door was open.

Just close enough
The location is far enough outside of DC to feel like you aren't in DC, but close enough to get on campus/downtown when needed. 30-minute commute to campus now by car. There are several bus stops in the community that run to the metro. The typical metro commute is 45 minutes to one hour.
Pros - Two pools, so they are hardly ever crowded. Fitness center onsite. Smoke-free community. Dog park. Grooming area for pets. Free street parking
Cons - Sometimes hard to find parking on the street. Garage parking is an extra monthly fee. Garage doors are in a constant state repair, so it isn't as secure as it could be. The maintenance crew is just ok at timely responses. Sometimes takes multiple visits to figure out the problem.

Amazing home
I came here because before law school I had already been in the military for eight years. I needed a place more like a home rather than like a city living dorm style. I had A lot of stuff! Plus two dogs. This place is amazing! Free dog washing, amazing gyms, pools, dog parks, community events, package concierge where packages are delivered and placed in lockers so that residents can get them at anytime and they remain safe.

Great place to live
This is a great place to live and it's right off of 395. It's only 7 miles from Howard's campus and on a bad day may take about 45 minutes if you're driving. Rent includes free rides on ART which drops you at the Pentagon where you can take the Yellow line to campus. They have a state of the art gym and pool. Its walking distance from Giant grocery store and a 5 min drive to Del Ray, Pentagon City, and Crystal City with lots of shopping including Pentagon City Mall and several eateries.

Great apartment community
We love that our apartment complex feels like a neighborhood. The management team does an excellent job responding to residents' suggestions and concerns and taking care of the property. Though some of the units are older (our included), they are in good condition, and the maintenance team addresses issues efficiently and effectively. The best parts of the community, in our opinion, are the brand new gym/clubhouse, the pools, and reasonably priced parking.

DC Living without DC prices
Commute gets very easy if you are working in DC. You have an array of choices when it comes to shopping groceries, restaurants, recreational activities. I lived in NOVA before and the cost of living within the DC metro is too expensive. The commute into DC from here is very reasonable compared to other parts of Northern Virginia. This place is energetic and lively. The only thing that I can complain is apartment community can provide better amenities like a trash chute, instead of walking around the block to dump the trash :(

Too many fees
There are too many fees and rent keeps going up. The management team needs to do much more to keep residents happy. It is like they don't care about tenants currently living and have no interest in retaining them. The facilities and location are good, but not good for metro riders.

Expensive
The apartment is expensive and the top floor walking around the sound leaks through and its hard to sleep at night sometimes. When you get stuck with a bad neighbor it is uncontrollable. There could be better gym and service. The parking garage door is always having problems.

Old Town Reviews
- Safe, nearby grocery store, pet friendly, pool, close to restaurants, diverse in income types and styles of homes, etc.
Cons: Section 8 housing, a lot of people for a tiny pool.
