Entire building requires refurbishment
Pros:
- Convenient as it is very close to Osgoode Hall building
- Quite spacious for a 1 bedroom, and adequate storage
Cons:
- When I first moved in, most furniture are either broken or on their way out and most light bulbs are out.
- All lights in my apartment produces a high-frequency buzzing that's migraine-inducing - new LED lights should be used to replace old CFLs.
- Carpets have never been cleaned as they are covered in stains and have a very bad odour.
- Maintenance is only responsive in the sense that they will respond to your emails or maintenance requests, but they do not provide timely service even with urgent issues. My toilet was broken when I first moved in and it took them over 4 days before they came to fix it.
- Fire alarm system testing should really be done during the summer when there are less students. Since the start of school, we've had 2-3 fire alarm testings where there's a flashing light and loud beeping that goes on for long periods of time.
- There's essentially no temperature regulation as room temperature can get up to 35+ celcius during September and October.
- Internet is extremely slow to the point where I struggle with saving a microsoft word document. It has affect my assignment submission multiple times and IT helpdesk has provided no useful solution to this issue.
- Hallway has an extremely pungent odour and stains all over - which I strongly believe has never been cleaned. It has attracted pests like fruit flies, flies, and cockroaches, and has caused multiple infestations.

Decent Value for a Student
Good on-campus option for students, the building overall can be cleaner, like the hallways.

Passy is not a great place to live
While I enjoy the location and price of Passy Crescent, the building is not safe and the other occupants are extremely loud.

Passy Crescent Review
Not the best but still good

Decent Value for a Student
The cost of the apartment is good for a student and is located on campus. This makes it easy to transition to Toronto if you're from outside of the city and want easy access to classes. Some of the interior needs to be updated, such as carpets in the hallways replaced as they are pretty dated and worn. Individual units do not have a thermostat so that makes it tricky to adjust heat according to weather. But overall, good first apartment for young people.

Renter beware
Honestly, if you want to live near the law school/campus, it might be your best option.
But that isn't saying much. The walls are thin, the furniture is unusable (especially the best: bring a mattress or topper, at the very least), you hear absolutely everything your neighbours do, and if you have the misfortune of having a 2-story place, the heating/cooling will be a nightmare.
Oh, and don't expect to get a reply from maintenance or York Apartments unless your place is on fire. They'll randomly show up at your door 6 weeks later demanding to be let in (no 24h notice in sight), may or may not fix your issue, and then leave before you have a chance to say anything more.

Good for the price
You won’t be able to get a whole 1 bedroom apartment to yourself with no pests anywhere in the city. There are issues with maintenance, and the fire alarm goes off a bit more than it should - but the price is fair for what you get (especially no roaches or bed bugs)

Student housing at its worst
Moved here for the proximity to the university but it is the worst place I have ever lived. Constant maintenance issues (pests, heat/cooling , mold, plumbing, leaks), hallways/stairwells filthy, cigarette/weed smoke comes through the vents, lots of noise from other tenants, laundry machines constantly break down, frequent false fire alarms, packages/mail get stolen, internet connectivity issues etc. Management is unresponsive to tenant complaints and their staff enters units without notice. I'm moving out before the school year is done. Would rather commute than suffer through this any longer. I cannot urge people strongly enough to avoid Passy and other York Housing buildings.

Passy Apartments
Good residence for students living at York University. Free internet, electricity, and hydro included with the rent. Very close to campus, with all buildings, including the gym, within walking distance, as well as various restaurants and other campus facilities.
