Enjoyed it
It's quieter/more remote from main campus than living by Franklin, but I have really enjoyed Alta. It is fairly expensive though, and parking can get crowded. I recommend it overall.

Overall great place to live in first year
Overall, I love living here. I'm a second-year and have lived here for 2 years. Downsides: not walkable to Franklin street, management can be disorganized. Upside: Great for dogs, easy access to I40, lots of MBA students live here, great amenities.

Great Apartment, Some Issues
The apartment itself is great, newly renovated with two separate bathrooms. We have a garage which is also very helpful. The rent is a bit high, but the amenities are very nice. Trash pickup is early morning and it will wake you up at 5:30am.

Nice place to live, and everyone lives here!
Amenities and rooms are great (especially renovated). Lots of MBA and Law students live here so the social scene is fun and convenient.

Social area, but unit had a lot of problems
We were very happy to be around many Kenan-Flagler students, however our unit had many problems (water leak from ceiling, appliance issues, etc). We will be moving to a different building next year.

Alta Springs
Alta is great for being near classmates, but it's far away from shops and transit. Well maintained and offering a gym, pool, walking trails, and surrounded by woods.
Apartments are spacious and are being updated regularly. Sometimes you can hear your neighbors and you want to investigate if your neighbors are smokers. They often won't let you see your exact unit when signing your lease so be aware and ask lots of questions. Get an agreement in writing.
Rents tend increase about 7-10% a year. Amenities are great. Its not the most energy efficient place, middle units tend to have lower utilities than the top in the summer.

Great for first-year MBAs
Tons of MBA students live here so easy to share rides to/from school. Apartments are large and have lots of closet space. Updated kitchens and bathrooms are great. Washer/dryer in every unit is awesome. Only downside is far from bar scene so feel removed from campus.
