Don't Live in CTT

CTT advertises as having internet and cable included in your rent, however cable is not actually included. You have to pay extra for a cable plan and then get it installed. The internet speed is horrible, and most nights it actually stops working completely. When you complain to the building, they say there is nothing that they can do to help and direct you to speak with their IT person, however it is the building managements responsibility to fix this.
Also, the buildings are on the side of a mountain so not all floors are accessible from all elevators and entry ways. It's extremely confusing to get around, hard to get food delivered, and there is no signage to help direct people. The walls in a 2 bedroom apartment are so thin that you can hear every word of your roommates conversation, noises from other apartments and even alarms going off in other rooms. Homeless people also pick through the trash in the garages so it is not as safe as some other buildings in the area.

Great Apartment

Collegetown Terrace (CTT) is an amazing apartment. My building is clean, quiet, and spacious. The management is very friendly and always available for questions. The bus to campus is an amazing feature of living here. My favorite aspect of living at CTT is that I can pay my rent using a credit card, which most places do not allow.

Convenient Location

Location is very convenient- close to both downtown and Cornell's campus. The shuttle is a really quick way to get to campus in the mornings. One consistent issue is the internet- it is included in the rent but is often slow or cuts in and out.

Collegetown Terrace

I've lived at Collegetown Terrace for the past two years and really enjoy it. Units are spacious and come furnished. There are communal study rooms with great views / a lot of natural light. The complex is close to campus (they also provide a shuttle service). There is also covered parking available.

Well Rounded

Overall a great place to live. My apartment is in a high traffic area so it is noisier than other places, outside of that it's ok. Been having internet issues that management is still working through. Seems like most of the international students live here. The amenities are good with the shuttle service, fitness center, and study areas.

High rent fee, low satisfaction

Even though Wifi does not work well, staff does not work on it quickly. This problem has been an issue over a month, but still we have problems using internet.

Paper thin walls, VERY BAD INTERNET!!!

This place sucks! The internet, one of the most important things needed for work, does not work! It consistently disconnects. You can hear your roommates having sex all the time. It is super expensive compared to any other residences in the area. The buildings have gotten beaten up. The management can be nasty sometimes. The living rooms are super small. When it gets cold, the hot water doesn't work. The air control is AWFUL in a 3 bedroom; the room furthest away form the fan in the living room gets a totally different temperaure than the rest of the house.

What's nice is the shuttle brings you up to campus. Highly recommend avoiding, do maplewood, city center, or just get a house!

CTT

Apartment itself is perfect. Occasional issues with the Wifi is only downside.

Some merits and some downsides

It is new, but not the newest, apartment complex, and it feels like a nicer college dorm. So the apartment comes furnished, each room gets its own bathroom, desks are big, and closets are walk-in types. I think it is a nice setup and I like how you can get a sense of privacy in a 3-bedroom apartment. Also, there are study areas, conference rooms, and gyms that you can use. There is also a free shuttle for residents, which is a great addition to the services provided. However, there are some downsides. The Internet has been a huge issue recently and there are some power outages from time to time. The rooms within a unit also has an airvent that goes through the top, so the sound flows through the vent, which can be disruptive to light sleepers.

Overall, I like living in this apartment, but it would have been better without some of the issues.

1Bd 1 Bath

Overall, building is fine. In unit laundry is a perk. Building is new and comes furnished. Persistent problems with wifi. Thin walls in odd areas. Comes with a shuttle to campus, which is also a perk. If you are looking to maximize the value of your dollar spend, there might be more optimal housing elsewhere. But if you just want convenience in a new-ish building, this is as good a place as any. Bonus, many grad school students live here as well. Chances are, you'll run into them often.
