Good location, thin walls

The Packard is great because of its location in Center City (5 minute walk from Drexel shuttle) and the proximity to Trader Joe's. They also do an amazing job with packages and the gym on the first floor is an added bonus. All units have huge windows and tall ceilings, which is great, but you will be spending more on heat in the winter. On the other hand, you will hear your neighbors when they have people over, and depending on how loud they watch TV, you will hear the TV as well. Management is good at addressing concerns with noise complaints and maintenance is also super quick to address your problems.

Packard Review

I have really enjoyed staying at the Packard. I live in the largest apartment size available, which has a corner apartment/view. It allows for a lot of light, and it has 13 or 15 foot ceilings which are great.
We do live on Broad Street, so there is a lot of traffic and there is a motorcycle parade that happens pretty regularly most nights a week. The windows do a good job muting out the noise, but they can still be heard.

My First Year Experience at the Packard

My apartment is a loft. It is very spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is a good size and well equipped(fridge, microwave, dishwasher, stove with oven)if you like to cook. You have a nice counter facing the living room where you can sit to enjoy your food or use for entertaining a group of your friends.

The bedroom and bathroom are in the upstairs area. The bedroom comfortably fits a large frame queen size bed, side table and a dresser. Additionally, it has a nice walk-in closet. Stairs and upper level is carpeted, with exception of the bathroom.

The apartment itself has an industrial feel to it which makes it very cozy. It is a great space for a single person or for a couple. The service and amenities are excellent. The location is superb if you are going to Hanneman; you just cross the street and you are there.

Highly recommend

Apartment complex is great overall. There is definitely some wear and tear on some of the walls and closets, but they do their best to fix it up whenever you need. I haven't had any maintenance issues as of yet. The rooms have very high ceilings which is nice as it is easy to get sunlight in. Rent includes a nice gym downstairs with a common room as well. Overall, I am very happy. The rent is a bit steep, but is seems to be the norm in Center City.

Pros and cons

Pros:
My experience has improved greatly since moving here. Gym was recently renovated and more equipment added, also you have access to another gym and basketball court at the Metropolitan apartments.

Also recently renovated lounge areas

People who work at HUH get a rent discount.

I pay $100 for a covered parking spot which is one of the best rates I've seen in the city.

Administration quick to respond to messages

High ceilings means don't hear noise from above floor (in general the sound proof is good all around)

Random parties/events

Free storage

Opposite HUH so VERY CLOSE

Cons:
An older building

Electric not included

High ceilings in bedrooms means that difficult to heat the room

No pool

This place is mediocre but will hold you over for 3 years.

Pros: Close to work, it's relatively moderately priced, has a full size gym recently renovated, high wall ceilings are spacious, parking garage has individual spots

Cons: The fire alarm goes off about once a month especially more often during winter months, roaches and rats on lower floors, I've had packages stolen from inside the "secure" mail room (how does that even happen?), the concierge service is mostly apathetic, very thin walls, maintenance is slow to respond (2-4 days) to requests such as microwave and door repair, parking garage is not heated, lots of construction noise, lots of highway noise, lots of shouting from nearby homeless shelters, occasionally your parking garage will be taken by a random person, this one random person with asthma is on the gym elliptical for 2 hours from 530 am to 730am and it's kinda uncomfortable but she comes with the property, only 2 ellipticals in the gym.

Resident

Great apartment complex with doorman, gym, underground parking in the building for an extra monthly fee. Convenient location between Spring garden and Race/Vine subways, convenient to walk or run to the Schuylkill. Large windows make for great sunlight. Study rooms also available in the building.

Center City luxury apartment great for students!

It's a convenient and safe place to live because it's right by the subway station and just blocks from city hall. There is also 24/7 security. Downstairs has a community room and a conference room with free wifi and printing. It's right across the street from Drexel University Center City campus and Hahnemann Hospital The management can be a little friendlier in terms of accommodation. Very strict when it comes to extending the lease if it's not for a complete year. Parking is also over-priced I believe (extra $200/month).

My experience with the neighborhood has been very good. I have not had any trouble walking around late at night. There are a couple of excellent brunch places nearby right on Callowhill Street. Also, right across the street at the Hannover there is a nice grocery store.
You are about a ten minute walk from Chestnut Street, were you can find a shopping mall and ample stores for your convenience.
Neighborhood is great. There are some homeless people around, but I have never been harassed or bothered by them. You are a few blocks north of City Hall and the Center City bar/restaurant/shopping scene.
A lot of small cafes and shops around. Reading Terminal and Rail Park is a great boost to the neighborhood. Hope to see bigger retails stores like Target or grocery store opening up soon.
Great to run down Callowhill road for restaurants. Also the new rail park opened up right behind the building.
We are located in the center of 4 homeless centers, next to the highway, and a very busy intersection in which I see at least 2-4 accidents a month. You get all the cons of city living without any benefits of being close-by to any restaurants in the immediate vicinity.
Walking outside guarantees encountering one or all of the following
-Used needles
-Human excrement
-The odor of urine
-Beggars
-Open air drug usage

The district is overrun with vagrants and the dangerously mentally ill. Police presence is minimal and they are incredibly ineffectual and, frankly, slothful and are not to be relied on for security.
I do wish we were closer to more restaurants, bars, food places but it’s really not a far wall or subway. Not the safest area but the building is
This is a great location, within walking distance of great restaurants and Cafe's in Rittenhouse etc.

Some are put off by the homeless population but this is the city, it is what it isb
