Park Pacific
It has been great - the new property managers actually put on events and you feel very safe living here. It is also so convenient for traveling to law school because it is right across the street. There are a lot of people with dogs and friendly renters of all ages! The walls are super thick because it is an old building so I rarely here anyone else - although I live in a corner unit so that may be why I hear a lot less. In addition, there is a package room that all packages go to so you don't have to be home to receive them. I really have no complaints. My only issue with the apartment building is location - there is plenty to do in downtown, but it is not really my scene of bars, however Thaxton Speakeasy and Crack Fox are both very fun! There is also a lot of great food downtown, but I am more cautious at night like any other city.

Good location
Doormen are great, parking is convenient, great proximity to the law school, updated interior, and quick maintenance fixes

Not Ideal
Management raises prices with little to no warning. The building is poorly maintained and many of the amenity spaces have broken components. The location also is problematic. With the significant amount of night classes 2Ls and 3Ls are required to take to get effective bar prep, it creates very scary situations walking home at night due to the people that surround the building.

My Review
I love the apartment - I got really lucky with a good deal and a fully renovated apartment. It is also more affordable because my boyfriend has a full-time job, so it might be a little more expensive for the typical law student.
Other than that it is a safe building, excellent amenities, and very friendly people.

Not worth it
This apartment is right across the street from the law school so it is incredibly convenient. I also chose to live here because that's where I thought majority of law students lived. However, while the walk to school has been nice, that's about it. It's a pretty average apartment that is very overpriced. If you want to live downtown, there are plenty of other more affordable and nicer apartments available. Park Pacific is fine for an apartment during law school, but overall I don't recommend living here if you don't have to. But - in terms of noise, sunlight, available parking, attached gym, and thick walls - those are great.

Nice and convenient to school
The building is nice. The area is not the greatest because of the homeless people in the nearby parks. You can also hear noise from the street when loud drivers or sirens go by. It’s very convenient to school though

Park Pacific
I have had a great experience with Park Pacific so far. I love being within walking distance to campus and have always felt safe when walking to the building. Maintenance has also been a huge plus, they are always timely and extremely helpful.

Downtown West Reviews
The streets in Downtown generally are somewhat clean. There are also many restaurants & coffee shops in downtown, and it is very walkable/bike-able during the daytime hours.
Safety: St. Louis' reputation for being unsafe precedes it, and is a bit exaggerated. But not entirely off-base, from my personal experience. From about sunrise to sunset, speaking as a man, I am comfortable walking outside. Foot traffic is generally very light and most streets have sufficient sidewalk space. Not to fearmonger, but I have personally erred on the side of caution when it comes to going out at night. I do go out to Bar Reviews and friends' house parties once a month or so. I tend to get home anywhere from midnight to 2am. I have never seen any violence, or concerning behavior, with my own eyes. Anecdotally, I have heard from another friend in Downtown that they have seen people cruising around in a car with guns on one occasion, very early in the morning/late at night. Gunshots are not rare, but also not frequent. My personal estimate is that I hear what could plausibly be gunshots once every two weeks or so. They occur most often in the midnight to 4am block of time. Car-break-ins were the second-most raised point about safety in Downtown. I have not been the victim of a break-in myself. However, I have seen cars parked in the same spot on the street all day go from having an intact window in the morning to a busted window by the end of the school day. I strongly recommend securing garage parking if you have a car, either in your own apartment complex or a nearby external garage. Downtown St. Louis has a homelessness problem, unfortunately similar to most other major cities in the US (Austin, TX and Los Angeles, CA come to mind). The homeless & city have a tragic cycle of homeless people occupying the parks near the law school & city hall, then being cleared out by city officials when a major event is being held at or near the parks, and drifting back in, days or weeks after the event. I have seen homeless people sleeping along the St. Charles St. side of the building, and further up the street. I have never been personally accosted by anyone, but it can contribute to feelings of overall decreased safety.
