Close to school and town
Optima Horizons is a great option that is both close to Northwestern and close to many bars and restaurants in Evanston. The apartments are filled with sunlight and the gym and doorman provide additional benefits.

Convenient location and great building management
Optima Horizons is one of the closer residence buildings to Northwestern University campus. Other pros include floor to ceiling windows, great views on the upper floors, communicative reception & management, generally nice amenities, and safety. However, the gym could be larger and include more equipment & weights.

Location Location Location
The most important thing to me when I was picking an apartment was the walk to the Jake, and Optima Horizons is at the perfect location for what I need! The walk is 7 minutes to campus and only a few minutes to the Davis El stop. Plus the building is nice, tons of Kellogg students live here, and you're only a block away from the restaurants in downtown Evanston!

7 min walk to Campus!
Excellent location for campus and public transportation. You don't hear the Metra. Responsive landlord and property manager on-site. The door people are fantastic!

Best Place to Live
Optima Horizons is the place to live if you put a premium on location. It's a quick walk to everything in Evanston (the Jake, bars downtown, public transportation). It doesn't have all the (excessive) amenities of E2, but the rent reflects that. OHO is the best middle tier housing at Kellogg and the apartment building where you get the most bang for your buck.

Optima Horizons
The best building if you're looking for a great value of location, social, and nice places! Building is about half Kellogg. 2 year lease is also nice not to have to worry about rent increasing in the second year.

Fine, but if I did it again, would go for apartment building
The apartment is very good, spacious (we have a den in addition to our 1 bedroom). The building is also great and the rent includes almost everything, even internet and HD cable, plus there's W/D inside the unit, which is great. However, the fact that it is a condo makes things a little harder for us (eg. when something doesn't work properly, or various carpet stains upon arrival). If I had to do it again, I would choose an apartment complex instead of a condo.

Rooftop Yard
Optima Horizons is spacious with lots of storage. It is a nice management mix -- it is great to work with your individual landlord on any apartment issues, plus have a door-person to help with deliveries. The gym is small but usable if your can't bear to go outside, and you can't beat the location. It's only an 8 minute walk to the Jake once you discover the "shortcut" and restaurants, the train, and the party of E2 are all close, too. Units on the 5th floor have a larger roofdeck, which is great for grilling and hanging out outside -- especially if you plan on interning in Chicago over the summer!
